A Big Day today for the Supporters Co-op/CIC

As they map out their Vision for the future of our new football Club.
The rival Consortium led bid have already started the process of registering our new Club.
Who will be the winner?
Or can an acceptable compromise be reached?
What happens if JG & his backers enter the frame with a late bid?
Exciting times ahead for all Boro fans!

The big problem you use the word "rival", why the two couldn't have come together and presented one vision i dont know, but two presentations is not going to help

Who will be the winner
Make it sound like a episode of X factor
Exciting times ?????
Think this is the worse nightmare 3 rival bids that could potentially split the fanbase 4 ways (ones that aren’t interested in any of the 3) sounds disturbing not exciting

There has been several cases where more than one club was formed from the demise of one.
The impression I get is that a 51% (at least) fan owned club is what people want. Personally I don't think this will work due to many factors.
The biggest plus the coop has is they have a "independent" reference who can advise on reality, hope, facts and the best way forward.
The fan base has been split since 2019; so nothing new there.

I think there should be no one shareholding of more than 49%.
AFC Telford United admitted they made a mistake when they limited an individual shareholding to 20%.
It put off two foreign investors with links to the town.

People are saying the club should be 51% fan owned what wealthy investors would put their money into the club on that basis.

Exactly this I think some fans mainly on Facebook think this new club will be fan owned but have financial backers who don’t want anything in return
Don’t work like that - financially backing the club means they will want a say the more money the more say

UNLESS what JG said would happen (or he wanted to happen) many are prepared to put in less/year - even then people would want their say heard above others.
That would be my idea. 10 (or more) equals (including some one voted by the coop).

So the financial backers then did have control over the company cause them pulling the cash is reason why we folded

Or alternatively the amount of money needed was escalating & the backers called a halt & the Club has subsequently folded (not helped of course by being evicted).

They wouldn’t have a liquidation on their record - financial backers aren’t to blame for a company going bust

What you have just repeated is JG's idea from the outset, 5 years ago!
His proposal was for 10 people to put in £10k each year & that would continue year on year...
Pure guesswork now, it probably only happened in the first year?
That said, £100k a season wouldn't get you very far!

if anyone actually reading and commenting on this wants to see how much clubs generate and spend, have a look at hinckley afc's accounts which are shared here.

Hinckley AFC.
Latest published accounts 2022.
Turnover £66k.
139 members.
Level 10/Step 6.
So, to achieve promotion to Level 9/Step 5?...£80k?
To stay there?...£100k?
Based on a groundshare with Barwell.

I used a figure for illustration only.
Whatever is sustainable and realistic is what is needed. The club has to live within itself. The club have make a loss of £100,000/year and that did not get promotion or keep a ground.
How much do you think (above typical sponsorship and gate receipts) is to have a club that lives within its means?
Building a stadium ready for FL is a pipe dream.

Forget the building a Stadium scenario, that can be planned over many years...20 to 30 years.
I would say JG had to raise between £250k & £350k to operate/to achieve his own ambitions & to live his dream.
Corby Town set a budget of £3,500 a week & have recently had to make budget cuts...that's at Level 8/Step 4.
40 weeks x £3,500 = £140,000 + close season (say £25k) = £165k.
I don't think you can forecast how much it would cost to play at Level 9/Step 5, because it is effectively 'Amateur' football.
So, IMO, a figure of £100k is a realistic target for them to start with, if they can find a football ground to rent?

"It put off two foreign investors with links to the town"
Really - Like the Chinese investors that were linked before?
Perhaps 10 * 10% but even then, if 6 are together the other 4 are in the cold.
Irrespective. If there are options, its down to what will work and not what people want.

Are there any voting forms being sent out or will it be on the show of hands ? Do you really think that the attendees at two small meetings will decide the future of a football club ?
I am not at all swayed. Money,or lack of,will decide.

A formal vote (by many non members) to instruct the coop what path to take. I don't think so.
When has a vote of those who don't have to implement about a complex matter ever gone wrong.
I don't even think there is anything to vote on.
Only the coop (or at least a few within it) will have the information to make informed decisions. One decision might well be "well, we cant implement what people want"

I see no point for a vote unless there is clear researched and informed options which wont be the case until (at best) after Wednesdays presentation.
"Where does the coop go from there" Depends; if no formal representation they should continue with what (my belief) should always be the goal and get formal equal representation on any club board.
