ππππππππ ππ ππππππππ π
ππ πππ ππππ β ππππ ππππ ππππ!
The steering group met on Monday 12th February and, as we pledged at our initial meeting, Boro fans are at the heart of our decision making process. This will truly be a club created by Nuneatonians for Nuneatonians.
The success of your new club depends on YOUR support. We are close to being able to announce key information but before we can formalise agreements we need to register a club. We cannot use the name Nuneaton Borough, so we are running a poll to allow supporters to express their preference between two suggested names.
This poll has been set up with help from the Football Supportersβ Association (FSA), and you can vote online at:
https://surveymonkey.com/r/nuneaton-team-name
Time is of the essence and with this in mind the poll will run for five days from Tuesday 13th February until Saturday 17th February at 3pm. The winning club name will be submitted to the FA for approval, and will be used to formally put our plans in place in readiness for next season.
Today we have contacted the FA to register our intent to apply to join the National League system next season. As soon as supportersβ preference for the club name has been agreed this application will be formally submitted.
In addition, the creation of our own new Community Interest Company (CIC) was agreed on Monday. A CIC is a company structure set up to benefit the community and not for private profit. We believe that this structure which will give us the flexible governance platform that we need to ensure the sustainability of our club going forward.
Dialogue has begun with the juniors and ladiesβ sections and we hope to be able to have in-depth discussions with them in due course to see how we can work together for everyoneβs benefit.
We have been working hard on our financial model based on data from clubs currently at the various steps in the pyramid where we could be playing next season. The model will be used as a basis for sustainable budgeting when the club is up and running.
Members of the steering group have a wide range of experience and skills and are working with full support from the FSA. The group is creating smaller sub-committees to focus on specific issues to ensure that everything required is in place as soon as possible.
We are on the verge of so many exciting developments and more details will be shared with fans as things progress over the next few weeks. Hereβs to a bright new future and one that you will have kicked off by choosing the name of YOUR club.

After this statement if H&H have any feelings at all about the demise of The Boro and the plight of the supporters they will now walk away and let the people who genuinely care get on with the rebuild.

All this speculation is worrying. I don't like it!
Can someone (either the Steering Group or H&H) start giving some answers to the questions that supporters have been asking, please?

Do you have a list of questions you want answers to?
If you out them here I am sure people involved in either bid can make sure they get answered as much as they can be.

Who are the sporting bodies, local institutions and sponsors?
How would the board be shared between fans representatives, local institutions and sponsors?
Has a groundshare agreement been made with someone?
Why hasn't key information been released to supporters before registering a club?
What steps have been taken to ensure nobody profits from the football club?
There are probably more questions from other supporters too.

As per the statement, all of these are in advance discussion, but as they are not formally agreed they can't be announced. Some may not be far away, some may be longer.
The club hasn't been registered yet, the FA have been informed of the intent to register.
And one decision has been announced in the Statement- the new company with be a Community Interest Community (not for profit) and will most probably not have shares. This means owners cannot profit from dividends or by selling their stake. CICs also have regulatory constraints over debts and transparency of finances. And surplus funds remain in the club.

I would say "sustainability" and wherever that leads.
The only real "goal" would be a return to Nuneaton (assuming its initially outside Nuneaton).
Thats where the intangibility starts..... buy land and build a stadium / find somewhere to rent / find somewhere to rent and build.
I fully understand the urge to start up for next season, but it would be nice to have more time to investigate and have a plan in place.

Who are the sporting bodies, local institutions and sponsors?
Last weeks statement told us the co-op were backing a group of sponsors. The board was mentioned and who'd be on it.
Today we're told nothing is formally agreed and can't be announced.
Whose setting this CIC up? The co-op? The group of sponsors? Local institutions? Or the sporting bodies that have been mentioned?

All of those seem to be aimed towards co-op backed group, not H&H.
I have sent a link to your Qs to one person I know is involved, hopefully they will answer you.
Just out of interest, what key information do you think has not been shared?

Thank you Hullablue.
I don't know what the key information is that the Steering Group mention in their latest statement, but don't understand why it cannot be shared before registering a club.
I'm probably worrying over nothing!

Why though?
I know you have said you think H&H have a better chance of success, but yiu have not said why, and what you class as success.
Of course everyone is welcome to their own opinions, but you and others who back H&H (including Harris) are not giving any answers to these questions.

Why, because i believe they are more likely to build a sustainable club, that is what i meant by success, not wining promotions necessarily but having a club that can build and develop, i have no doubt the supporters group/coop can start a new club my doubts are can they sustain it

Because i think the way they are going to run the club is better than a community run club which i am not convinced by and see as only ever being able to play at the low levels of non league

Bit confused - you said you not going to use proportion as a yard stick then think the alternative to H&H are likely to be at a lower level.

They are going to run the club for the profit of investors, if I recall correctly.
How has that worked in non league football?
What else have they said about how they plan to run the club that you like?
Sorry if I was not clear, I was asking about your reasons for wanting H&H, not your reasons for not wanting the community led group.

Question
Views: 804
Are H&H setting up a team - has there been a formal announcement?
I am totally confused with whatβs happening on Boro chat.
THEORY - could it be that AFC Nuneaton is not an option because itβs been claimed?
^^^^ been told theory is wrong - not why it was not an option ^^^^

Another Question
Views: 870
In addition, the creation of our own new Community Interest Company (CIC) was agreed on Monday
A CIC (Nuneaton Future Communities CIC) was incorporated on 26th January with Jeremy Moore and Peter Tierney as its directors, since then Stuart Noss and Jason Farndon have been added.
Is this anything to do with the new Club which the Co-op are asking fans to give a name too?

We looked to the future in 1990 and again when Neal took over the club. We loo!ed to the future again when Ginnelly turned up. Before a new club is formed those in charge should look.and see why the others failed. Those who ignore their history are doomed to repeat it.

It is almost as if there is more than one fan.
I opposed the Town name last time and not a fan this time.
Also, last time I wanted Boro name back, this time I wouldn't.
It is almost as if some opinions change based on new developments over a dozen years.
Not sure where the hilarity is there.
