Anyone think this is the beginning of a merger in years to come if we don't find our home ground ( which I don't see ) sooner rather than later ?
I can see this happening after the dust settles and both clubs start to drink out of the same glass

They contacted Leicester Road and Rugby United (both discounted on cost); neither had SLP grading.
In fact, the oval has been used for games at this level more recent than the other two.
In reality - it has transpired that only Stratford or Barwell or Leamington were the only realistic graded ground.

The Oval would pass the grading for Step 3, it just hadn't been graded for that level since the last gradings change as Bedworth had no cause to seek it.

The club had contacted many clubs (and excluded Hinckley Road and rugby on cost ) but never approached Bedworth.

I have no idea if the oval was available - club never approached.
With £650,000 debts increasing at least £100,000pa with no ground.
How was continuation to be achieved and by whom?
Best way to keep the club going would have been to live within its means and pay bills.

Doesn't change the fact that the Oval was always available should a football team with no ground want to play there...

Was talking to a fan of a step 4 club who recently spent time sharing at another step 4 club . It cost them £500 per match plus the landlords kept all the matchday takings from the club , food etc . Would expect that's the situation we arte in .
Personally think this is about as good an option as available , at least it's within the borough .

As I mentioned previously, (VoR really did not like me doing so), Anker Radio ( which has broadcast to patients of Nuneaton's George Eliot Hospital and beyond unbroken over 42 years ), was told to leave the hospital site during 2021.
Their studios were closed and all equipment was put into storage. Broadcasting continued from presenters homes. Where it is still based. However, the Radio Station has a new home in Beduff and are just about to launch a new studio there. Still serving the whole George Eliot catchment and beyond. The Anker Radio Trust had requested help from various organisations based in Nuneaton and North Warwickshire. None were forthcoming.
And don't get me started on Remembrance Day.
Along with many other Boro fans I have stood on the grass bank at The Oval chuckling at the vile and obscene abuse heaped on us by a handful of Darwin candidates. However-it IS is in Warwickshire. I will almost certainly follow New Boro there. Hopefully with a beer in the nearby Wetherspoons beforehand.

Mostly seems positive on this site , but that's not the case on boro chat .
Not really sure what some fans realistically expect . If we can get step 6 within the borough that's about as good as possible currently . The point about the oval not being disability friendly is one i've heard from others so does need looking into . Could we put in a small temporary stand for fans with problems ?

Not being funny, but I think some people on here are forgetting Bedworth are doing Nuneaton a favour (commercially beneficial to Bedworth admittedly) and yet seem to resent them profiting from the deal. Where would you be without the deal with them? Pretty much every ground share only covers the income from gate money. I’d be really unhappy at some of the comments if I was on the board at Bedworth.

I would imagine the wage bill will be quite low, Nuneaton will still pull in 300 + fans for each home match, we can still sell 50/50 tickets and blackouts plus merchandise so after paying rent we should be still well in pocket

and the whole thing is a commercial deal that has to acceptable to those with the facilities.
For all we know they could ask twice as much to use the ground and let NFC provide food.

Understand why might be only option etc, not saying they shouldn’t do it but still doesn’t mean it nice and people will like it - rather have played at Hinckley personally dunno why but in football terms I have never felt a rivalry with them in the slightest

re: Not nice
Views: 1360
Thing is, because of what has happened already (through no fault of loyal Boro' fans) , there is no nice way out of what has happened and the situation we find ourselves in.. If what most people want is a (second) football club playing back in Nuneaton one day, then as other so called Phoenix clubs have discovered, there is no easy way back.
The patient is near death and on life support barely breathing. There is lots of medicine and painful rehab to come before they are even back on their feet again ,let alone walking. ( God, I'm sounding like You-Know-Who now. Sorry).
I will set aside the thing about Beduff which I personally find a little artificial. Family backgrounds differ. Mine have lived in all these local towns at one time or another, searching for work and accommodation so it is difficult for me to form a solid dislike for a place which has offered shelter and work to some of them. This does not apply to Tamworth for whom I have a great deal of personal dislike.
You are dead right about it not being for all. But neither would any option. The Oval is on three or more bus routes out of Nuneaton, just a few miles away. It has a rail link and the parking is ok . It has food outlets nearby. HLR, Leamington and most other options have none of these. Barwell has the 158 and 48 bus link.
Again speaking personally (though as a Life Member of the Co-Op ,an ex season ticket holder and previously a founder member of NBST) , I seriously doubt that any "senior" club other than The Griff will play in Nuneaton during my lifetime. Not being morbid or anything-just facing facts as they appear to be this morning. However "we" have to start somewhere. Or give up.
As for disability I don't have 100% mobility myself. I found the approach to Liberty Way perilous especially in darkness and the steel steps in the stands potentially fatal when wet. Recalling the Oval as I remember it when watching the Boro' there, there are some steep grass slopes but there is a level entrance from the Main Road. Not quite sure what the other objections are access wise as I do not bother with Boro Chat any more. UTB

The Town itself has some excellent boosers which I've spent many happy hours in, and I've done a few gigs there.
It's ok as a place. But there is no place in my heart for The Lambs.
