The negative we will play better than Paget
The positives Were going to score a lot of goals this season , clinical in attack .
I've seen us involved in far worse games than this a lot higher up the pyramid . Even the ref was better than we expected .

Yes agree. Standard of refereeing was higher standard than we are used to. Tried to let the game flow which helped our style a lot.

Paget are one of the poorer teams in this league historically but we looked very positive going forward, a bit of tightening at the back reqd. Was a fast bouncy pitch which looks probably near the end of its life, did not help, cant complain about that though.

First 20 minutes we played perfect football .... Passed it around used the spaces and ran the channels. Then came the unexpected ... Lose ball in the box came to an unmarked man and we were one down.
From then on we set it alight with two quick goals and didn't look like losing .
Hendry went went off with what looked like a knock, but it didn't deter us from pressing the game even more
They played a very high line which we took full advantage of with plenty of through balls (one on one with the keeper) they just couldn't handle it all afternoon
All in all a good afternoon with plenty of entertainment and plenty of goals ( just what VS ordered ).
Well done all ....

Didn't know about the 5 subs rule till today, we used all 5 and it showed that we have a strong squad.

1st time for many seasons we have won our 1st game. I think the last was 2010 when we won at Guisely on our return to Conference North as it was then.

Just WOW!

No long serving Boro fan would have gone into that without expecting the worse to happen-and hoping it didn't.
It really didn't-and the complete superiority on the pitch has little to do with the Opposition-they weren't all rubbish-I thought their number 2 was excellent and the keeper made at least ten saves, mostly with his body.
No, that result was down to superior fitness, not a little skill, a mixture of youth and experience AND a positive attitude from every Boro ,sorry Town player. ( The only time I heard the Town word mentioned was over the P.A. But yes, I understand some will still want us to view the game as Town v. Paget).
Regardless, it was bloody brilliant.
And to be honest, The Oval did us proud.
Hope they get the pies/tea bar sorted because that must have lost them a few bob.

Considering it's a completely new squad how quickly they have gelled into a team is impressive, they looked as if they had played together for years

Great to see Cully, Kirk Stephen and even Leroy Lita there today.
But best of all was the countless fans walking out of the ground today saying "that felt like the Boro of old".
No bigger complement in my eyes.
