I have supported for over 40 years myself and have seen it all and as much as it pains me to see what has happened I have drawn a line under things .

First - 100% applaud 👏🏿 for the efforts made by many; particularly (probably) under estimating the attendances.
JG broke my addiction with the Boro. Having used to be a “every home game and most away games” person that takes a lot of doing. I started missing loads of games I would normally go to. Towards the end I found I was going because “I go to the Boro” feeling no connection and indifferent to winning or losing.
I have had no urge to go this season. I probably will but I can’t see myself ever getting the same connection.
it’s totally understandable, but personally I would like to have seen more separation between old and new, but i can fully understand why it is what it is. That’s my view/perception; probably because how the club I loved became one man’s personal play thing that destroyed it off and on the field.

Hence my post.
To have gone to just about every game during the last relegation season to not going at all (and I have been going !!cough!! years) says something.
Bottom line is I have fallen out with football generally. I hated the JG era (on and off the pitch) and there was the forced non-attendance of Covid.
I have all the sports channels and rarely watch.
What other people do is 100% unto them. (as it's 100% up to me0.
I dare say I will pop along; my enthusiasm may come back.

This is irrelevant - most clubs owe big money. What you don't do is spend silly money on names and old men when you are in debt. If you think it wasn't the owners fault you have a very big issue with head in the sand.

For me, it's the exact opposite of depressing. Playing new teams, at grounds I haven't been to, along side fans who are happy that they have a club to support.
The football standard overall has been better than I expected (minus for the first half today), but I don't go to the Boro to watch the standard of football I go to support my team, have a chat with family/friends and have a good afternoon out.

Few can have been more critical, more bitter and twisted over the years on this (and previous) Forums than yours truly. But I'm with Mark at this one.
I found that having a record expunged mid season ,losing a ground and a losing a club all in one go one of the most humiliating football experiences that I have ever experienced. Seeing Boro' go out gamely at the CBS only reinforced the hurt. In well over sixty years spent playing, coaching and watching football, it was one of my least enjoyable moments. I thought it would finish me. It hasn't. Probably never will now. I KNOW who was responsible. And I will never forgive or forget.
I still find driving past an empty and obsolete football stadium several times a week immensely annoying. However I confess that seeing 500+ people sticking their twos up to those responsible for the collapse and then exile of a much loved club last week, kind of satisfying. I hope those responsible for the latest fiasco last season rot and suffer.
I enjoyed watching the Paget game. I would have enjoyed it whether it was at Wembley or on Pauls Land. It was decent football played on a nice day. I would rather watch that than any of the overpaid, rotten to the core frippery of the most predictable League in the world. Same clubs win the title every year. Same clubs get relegated, receive inflated rewards for doing so then bounce straight back again. Yawn............
I have no problem with The Oval. Never have. The access and parking is easier for me than Stadium No Name or MP. The Biscuit Tin was a death trap. I now have mobility issues. The time would come when I could not manage the long walk up to the one open entrance to The Biscuit Tin in the dark. Or climbing up slippery wet tin steps to get a decent view. Attending was a real risk at times. I saw several accidents there. Standing on the grass banks at The Oval was a lot more comfortable. Quite a novelty being allowed to move freely around all four sides of a football ground again, too.
Last year Bedduff offered a home to the Nuneaton-based Charity I work for after Treacle had turned its back on us. Then the town did the same to our football club Yeah, yeah yeah..... I know. It's not the same club. Right. That's why we all still all call it Boro.
I don't really see the point in those posting faintly gloating stuff about can't be arsed, not bothered, won't ever come back, etc. It's nice for you that you have some closure, I suppose. But why not just devote your time to glory hunting and armchair football and leave the rest of us to wallow in our own gullible sentimentality?

I'm with Spurs but good luck to all of you who are putting hard work in to resurrect the club AGAIN.
As Tamworth run out in the National league while Boro yet gain turn out in the abyss maybe those who are mow putting hard work in such as Mark should perhaps have been a bit more vociferous in trying to oppose the buffoon who ruined the last club.
Personally I see a few seasons of success but when Boro do return to at least the Southern Central the financial turmoil will probably return.
Despite my apathy I genuinely wish all those involved much success but sadly three collapses in 30 odd years has done it for me.
All that said the club needs to come back to Nuneaton with a new ground within its historic catchment area. Trouble is there is no land in that area and a return to the eastern fringes of town will probably give you another Liberty way.
So now the Starmer Marxists are in power Boro should bang heads with the green backs, get some grants and ask the council to sell the Oval for housing - all the money can then go to building a new complex and ground between the two towns on the existing green belt but Keir Stalin wont be opposed to that so happy days - a new modern ground for both clubs owned by the council and shared by both clubs. Happy days
Good luck to you all.

You make some very good points, as do many contributers in this rambling thread. A ground share in the green belt is possibly the long term solution. Regarding Tamworth I believe they have an owner who is not only a proper businessman, but is well liked in the area. Looking back I know Noel had his detractors, but he was a Boro fan and tried to do his best for club

The biggest problem clubs have when they try to move up through the levels is planning permission to carry out improvements particularly floodlights and parking issues . When or if we are ever in a position to buy or rent some land i would strongly advise that they make sure planning permission is not going to be a problem or the ground can actually become a problem rather than a help .

If it aint worked in the previous 50 years it aint gonna work in the next 50. Times have changed. Nuneaton People can watch Premiership or championship football within 30 mins traveling time of their homes. They aint gonna give that up to watch national league football let alone Midland league. I spent years asking Nuneaton friends of mine to watch Boro instead of Villa or Cov. All my appeals were met with silence. They only watched Boro in big cup games or play offs. 500 regulars is not enough to see Boro compete at conf north or above without a money man.

No chance - waste of money - one step forward two steps back - If it didn't work in the last 50 years it wont in the future. Boro gone under more times than Jacques Cousteau.
Boro will return to Prem central quickly but then 500 Boro fans won't be enough to sustain anything more than a club playing to stay in the conf north each season. The club was a financial mess at Manor Park so left to generate more money. The same at Liberty way and now the club not even in Nuneaton.

Agree with quite a bit of your post. I had a look around myself at the situation we are in and I thought of Griff & Coton, opponents being Bermuda and terrible fare on offer. But I also thought that due to the great efforts of not a large army of fans that my interest was enough to go again and support their efforts, players included incidentally.
Yes it can be hard to watch but the efforts of all involved has me back in the groove.

1. Clearly we are not playing pub teams at pauls land.
2. Didn't go today but have been to first two and yes its enjoyable to see us dominate matches.
3. The liar Ginnelly is no longer around.
4. We're playing positive attacking football.
5. Sometimes the lack of quality is quite funny.
6. Boro fans chanting you fat bastard at goalkeepers is still funny even in todays woke society.
7. Most of the people who go seem to be enjoying it.
8. I dont go out of boredom
9. It's really cheap to watch (I'm a concession).
10. Only one thing for me is that we've had a really easy start against 3 of the poorest teams in the league and the weather has been good. Not sure if it will be quite so pleasant losing at the oval on a freezing Jan day, we'll see!

says Jebbs who said a while back that Broro fans should get their heads out of the sand during the early board crisis, because that's what happened with the old club. Yet it was you who continually slagged off those who did have their heads well and truly out of the sand when your pal was destroying the club. That was post of the decade pal lol.

I’m pretty sure that won’t happen, based on my coal face experience of how the club is being run . Monthly published accounts , budget based on sensible realistic 200 attendances with 120 season tickets already sold ,together with Our fantastic volunteers and the team Russ & acco have put together
A community interest club now with an equal partnership between business and the supporters.
Our club is a million miles away from what’s gone before, we are seeing that with sponsors and supporters buying into what we are creating .
The fans/community are front and centre of what we are doing as a club . We are determined to take this club forwards , no if no buts .
Getting new and old supporters is work in progress but it’s happening. It’s your club and will always will be

Was anything learned from the past in the last 50 years? Was anything learned in the last 6 years? I think not. You do realise Boro went pop three times in just over 35 years. Lost money at Manor Park most seasons, lost money at Liberty way most seasons? This was the reality - either bad ownership or lack of support and viability- or both. Having read through the excellent town to town project it seems Boro were begging for money most seasons since the Rotherham game.

There is negativity and reality and the reality is not enough so called Boro lovers stepped up an fought for the club. Those that did were destroyed and insulted beyond belief - But alas they were right.

Serious question to armchair vulture and spurs and Verde, why do you keep posting on a football forum where you've both admitted to having zero interest in. Most of your posts are either negative or patronising, seriously why bother. Spurs you said you can't watch park football, well thats your choice. why come on here and rub people up by saying that. Just enjoy paying a premium watching overpayed drama queens in a sanitised atmosphere and let the rest of us enjoy watching "Park football".

And these were the posters Spurs who backed the previous owners in everything they did and accused those of us who stood up for the club as Boro haters. Then we were proved right and they still insulted us- you couldn't make it up. They just can accept the opinions of long standing or ex Boro fans. As I've said the Waffen SS could run Boro and they still wouldnt criticise their methods. Blind loyalty but not a tiny shred of love or care for the club. A divided fan base.

it was the insults that got me. I've got a thick skin so that didn't bother me - what did bother me was my missus scared of being abused at a game. What did bother me Stone, more than anything was JG supporters telling me I wasn't a real Boro fan- I didn't use the clubhouse of kiosk and that sort of shite. Yet I've watched Boro since around 1978- been all over England, spent lots of money- I even designed the disabled stand free of charge for the COOP yet I was declared "not a Boro fan". And all because I didn't think JG was right for the club. All that shite got to me- still does.

In answer to your original question that started all this off . Wednesfield yesterday was certainly a shock to the system for some boro fans , but it is were we are and it's not as if we're happy to stay at this level . Personally it's a bit of an adventure for now and we are playing some decent stuff at times . Football at this level tends to be very attacking and open with goals . Grounds are basic & crowds are low . Clubs are friendly .

Enjoy your football but for me the party ended with the latest collapse. Some good people follow Boro who deserve some pay back. But at the end off the day its a choice. Me personally, I don't think a football club in Nuneaton is economically viable in the 21st century playing any higher than southern central. Good luck to those that do and who feel Boro can re-emerge. Sadly history shows it wont be at all easy.

Tamworth have shown it can be done without a money man, Boro did a few years back to and who knows what might have happened if Wilkin hadn't left

Tamworth didn't employ a Sunday league manager or an owner who wanted to manage at all costs irrespective of results.

I've read the posts ta, you and spurs are wind up merchants, subtle but still wind up merchants. And I get it you've got no interest in the club, I think you've mentioned it once or twice before.

Boro fans reactions tend to be Orwellian in nature.
