Gala Field

Gala Field is the logical location.

A groundshare between the Boro & the Nuns, which will bring both clubs back into the town & nearer to their fanbases.

It would need an initial outlay by NBBC of circa £1.25 million, to provide a 4G pitch/floodlights suitable for playing football & rugby, to build Changing Rooms & a solid periimeter fence.

This would free up the landowners at Liberty Way to re-develop that entire site & maybe put some of their cash into helping to further develop Gala Field?

Consideration could be given to bringing some/all of the 3 stand structures to Gala Field?

This would enable the Boro to concentrate on producing a Phased concept design to attract Grants, with the limited funds they have available.

With luck & a following wind & everyone co-operating happily(!) 5/6 years would be a realistic timescale to make some sort of impression.

Welcome back.

You are on the right lines in that I believe the solution could come from council land leased to a CIC.

It’s my understanding the Gala Field option has now gone elsewhere.

There is a potential site I can think which would be a good location.

There is no way the Nuns will get into partnership with FC again. They will have other decisions to make soon anyway.

I think the important thing will be to walk before we can run. And I hope that the initial back to Nuneaton fund can be used for a feasibility study and business case which will be more influential on those making local decisions.

That won’t include national Government which was why I was annoyed with the MP raising false hopes.

But when the time comes a CIC will be better positioned to get a lease and to attract grant and community funding.

It’s going to be a long way back but I am very heartened by the new Club organisation which couldn’t have been bettered and by the support from fans which has been wonderful.

They will need to produce a Phased high-level Concept Stadium Design & Budget Cost Plan, together with a high-level Construction Programme, which can be priced to super-impose an S-Curve on the Construction Progamme.

They will then have the information they need to take with them when they are talking to the various Government bodies & Funding Institutions.

Edit:

...& a Business Plan.

Why would the Nuns get into bed with the football club again? As the landowners at LW bar the Stadium the Rugby club could afford to bring more to the table than the football club, once bitten twice shy and all that

I would have thought the opportunity to play at a purpose-built Stadium a few hundred yards away from their former spiritual home, The Harry Cleaver Ground, would appeal to any progressive thinking supporter of the Nuns, also being able to set themselves up financially at the same time & sharing the rental payments with the Boro, having secured a 100-year lease with NBBC into the bargain...a WIN/WIN/WIN for everyone involved?...& maybe the opportunity to increase their fanbase?

Just my thoughts!

Vale view has no chance - it is surrounded by housing as the Jubilee centre is( remember that) and it is land fill- it was Haunchwood brick and tile no 2 clay pit and was filled with rubbish.
Any site surrounded by housing will see massive opposition.

Vale view isn’t directly surrounded by houses ,I should know I walk around there quite often ,it’s a massive site ,and it would suit our needs, I personally think the entrance and exit would be a problem .

Warwickshire County Council Highways would be the Consultee who would take some convincing!

The Traffic Impact Assessment would be crucial to any hopes of building a new Stadium on that site.

It would be one of the first items on my agenda, commissioning a local traffic study.

Edit:

Also, Highways England would be a part of the consultation process.

You have to go back 60 years to Stockingford Villa playing there AV. It used to be about thirty yards down to the pitch and the emptying of dust carts and burning their contents (where the community centre is) ended the football.

As one door closes, another one opens.

No it's not a natural bowl - it's a filled in Etruria marl.clay pit and surrounded on three.sides.by housing - theyll never accept a new ground there and would fight it tooth and nail as those residents.near the.Jubilee centre did.

Yes - but it's still a land fill site.but the biggest hurdle though is its proximity to housing - like the Jubilee centre fiasco theyll never accept a football ground near their..homes what with traffic, antisocial behaviour ,noise and floodlights.

Do you mean me or VoR?

I was welcoming back VoR to be forum, hopefully we can all welcome him to the Oval soon?

As for if I'm enjoying games at the Oval? Yes, although home games means volunteering until just after half time and then catching some of the game. We play some good football and fans seem to be enjoying it which is good, always helpful when we win!

My reference was solely to V.oR.

I know you've been there. I've seen you. Nodded to you.

I have no idea what VoR or Joe Towny or Gustavus look like.

Seen plenty of other familiar faces there, though.
