For a lad who I thought was absolute class, and would go on to have a long football league career (he did play for Lincoln in the league for a bit and a couple of other clubs briefly), he really has struggled to settle anywhere for longer than a season.

His performance at Telford when he got a hattrick from midfield is probably one of the best I’ve ever seen from a Boro’ player.

A midfielder who could use both feet, could head a ball, could pass, could tackle, could run all day, could score goals. I expected much more from him

I rarely rave about new signing (particularly young loan signings), until a fair few games in.

However, with Whitehouse I made an exception.
I saw his debut at FGR and he acted and played like he was a seasoned professional and dominated the game and demanded the ball.

It's strange how careers go really.

George Maris, who was just 'alright' (maybe being generous) on loan for us, has spent the last 10 years having a very good football league career for Mansfield and Cambridge with nearly 300 EFL appearances.

I thought Maris and Whitehouse were excellent. Didn’t both get injured and returned to their clubs. I always thought that if we could have kept both of them we would have stayed up.

Maris may well have got injured, yeah.

Whitehouse got recalled by County after a few loan appearances for us, then signed for Halifax briefly the next season, before returning to us for just over a season before signing for Lincoln.

One who impressed me on loan who scored for us at St Andrews in the BSC final and has gone on to have a good National League career at the likes of Borehamwood, Bromley, Dagenham etc is JOSH REES.

Seems to have had a lot of injuries, signed for Macclesfield in the summer but hasn't played that much for them
