LIBERTY WAY
Views: 1011
Just seen a few photos. The pitch is cut and looks immaculate. There's definitely been some kind of 'tidy up' job gone on.
Rugby?
Owners getting it ready to be sold?
Certainly looks 'fit for purpose' from the brief stuff I've seen anyway.
A return, in the future, maybe? Who knows...

Who knows ? I would like to think that the fantastic start to this new lease of life would not include being tenants ever again. It may be a longer journey to that end but would probably be a better option than the mess we were extricated from.

Unless we became owners of the stadium.
Doubtful, given how much it may cost, but who knows.
Ahead of my/ourselves perhaps, but I do think playing in Nuneaton, ran properly and sustainably still under the current model, with transparency, we'd get 800 fans and would hold our own at Step 3 (Southern Premier).
And I think the vast majority would be totally delighted with that too.

OR have a very long and binding lease.
Oh....and pay the rent would help.
I really can't see another truly feasible alternative in Nuneaton.

It’s a league game against Stourbridge.
It’s the former players lunch with former international Tim Simpson (who played for Nuns when they used to play all matches on the stadium pitch) as speaker.

Oh here we go. Wait for it.......
P.S. I've driven past it several times a day since October. Last time I looked it said that the next game was Borough at home to Bromsgrove.
:-)
Anyway. Back to Saturday. It's a long journey yet wherever we end up. Unless we get taken over by American Film Stars.

Makes you think if the Nuns dare consider speaking to NTFC and put together a plan to buy the stadium back full time. Would we be interested im not sure.
I somehow dont think Nuns have the resources to be long term tennants of the liberty way pitch.

Yes, the chances of Nuneaton Town going back to LW are slim to non-existent.
The stands will be taken down and the land sold for industrial units within two years I reckon.
The Nuns will want the cash and sell up.

One issue we could face is if the nuns decides to cash in on the land decide to relocate the club to another part of town, imagine if they bid a location where ntfc are looking at.
Cant say the move to Liberty Way back in the 1990s as worked for them either. Never understood why they left harry cleaver ground.

They won’t move from the site because they are land rich. 50 acres.
They ought to decide to play on the stadium because the takings are so much higher but who knows with agendas and internal politics.
They aren’t in financial difficulties. There’s been one rugby club in Nuneaton since 1879. I think there have been at least seven football clubs in that time which says it all! Eight if you include Griff!
There was a real chance for both clubs to have shared Liberty Way and work together constructively but Ian Neale thought he knew better! That’s gone now!
Hopefully our new Board can make progress securing a site in a more logical venue for football in Nuneaton which we can develop to suit our needs.

Question is are the Nuns able to pay the rent to play in the Stadium!!

I don’t think rent is an issue but they can find all sorts of excuses to stand still if they want. Depends on whether they want the Club to progress.

Yes, maybe not move completely, but they will sell some of the 50 acres of land they own for a large sum of money to developers for industrial use, including the land where the stadium is. A prime location for a business park.
Nuns will then continue to use pitch no.1 by the river as their main home ground.

Yes they may sell the clubhouse and nearby land including driveway and car parks. Theres no point a rugby club not having a clubhouse next to the main pitch. Its the biggest problem for the Nuns currently and they have had huge decline in crowds, coverage and interest etc. Developing other land may lead to 5G pitch and new clubhouse and facilities etc. So it’s logical as you say.
But that would all take some time to get permissions and agreements so they’d be much better off and would have much more prestige and respect if they used the stadium for 10 years. They were traditionally one of the top clubs in the country.
But never underestimate the ability for cock ups in Nuneaton sport!

Agree and stay well away from anything connected to the Nuns.

I would say it's more likely to be the Nuns wanting to stay away from the football club*. It was the football club that ripped up an agreement claiming it was null-and-void as it was an agreement with StadiaSafe and not Boro Leisure.
* Hopefully they might see the new incarnation different to the old one.
