This coming Saturday...

So, finally, 6 months+ into the season, I will be making my 'debut' watching the latest incarnation of Boro'Town against Coton Green on Saturday.

Due to family (looking after my 5 year old girl most Saturdays), location (240 mile round trip), health, finances, playing cricket until the end of September, and both games I planned coming to previously being postponed- including one that got postponed after I'd arrived in Nuneaton on the Friday- I'm yet to see us play. Good list of 'excuses' there but just the reality of life in my late 30's compared to my teens and twenties. Seems a long time ago that I was so addicted that I literally couldn't miss a game and travelled to Braintree for 65 minutes of the game after work on a Thursday night...

Anyway:

1) where's best to park?
2) What's the Beduff bar like for a pre game drink?
3) where will I find merchandise? I want a bobble hat
4) what can I expect to see formation wise etc?
5) who's the players to keep an eye out for- ability wise/fan favourites etc?
6) where's the best place to watch the game from? I'm more bothered about being able to see than being part of 'the atmosphere' these days.

Thanks all- looking forward to seeing the game, some familiar faces from years gone by and what the new club is all about. Impressed from afar by the actions of many so far, so look forward to seeing the reality.

I'll be in my usual spot in the bar - I share a covered pool table with Andy Pace, who sells old programmes.

Also, if parking at the ground is full, there's free all day parking behind in the park behind the main stand. The entrance to the car park is along the main park entrance (by the Ex-servicemens Club) drive down the the cricket pitch and it's on your right.

You can walk around to the turnstiles along the path outside the ground past the rear of the stand towards the Leisure Centre

Think it's all been covered ....
I always sit in the stand ..... not good views in some seats but you can see the whole game ( you know what I mean )

I don't think there's one poor player in the whole squad... round pegs in round holes, none of this left foot right side bollocks.

I've throughly enjoyed every game I've been to this season ... but as they say winning helps.

Enjoy 😉

Also making my first visit of the season on Saturday and if the weather is kind, will be accompanied by a Boro stalwart, a young Mr Geoff Cooke. Fingers crossed. See you there.

Here's hoping you get to see a gem of a match. To answer your questions:

1) Lots of places to park. The car park next to the ground fills up early, but there's 3 hours free at the swimming pool/leisure centre next door. Failing that there's a pay car park by the Civic Hall which is a 5 minute walk from the ground.

2) The bar gets good reviews. Always busy before the match and all very friendly.

3) Merchandise is for sale in the bar.

4) I'm not a tactical expert, but you will see more attacking football than we've had in many years!

5) Watch for Danico and James Spruce up front and Callum Carsley. Having said that, we are good in all positions!

6) I go behind the goal we are playing toward, but you can walk all round the perimeter to fins a decent spot. You get a good view of the action everywhere.

I always park on the car park at the ground . It's free , i get there an hour before KO and i've always found a space . It does get full a bit later .
Other fans seem to use either the leisure centre car park , there's a cut through to the ground or the council car park over the road . Haven't used myself but believe it's about £1.50 .

Merchandise is sold from a table inside the bar you can't miss it .

1. I usually park on Spitalfields (Civic Hall ) 1 or 2 car parks. Or a club car park nearby where I am a member. I'm not as mobile as I used to be so a short walk suits me.

2. Bar seems fine. I've had a few beers in there. Spoons is a five minute walk away. Does a mean Hazy Jane and Guests

3. Table often sited just inside the gate, rh side. Also in bar.

4. Attacking line up and format. 108 league goals tells it all. Excellent use of subs. All out commitment. Passengers not permitted.

5. Danico is likely to be the biggest surprise to you. He is well built but surprisingly fleet and has skills which the MP faithful would have adored. Many defenders have underestimated him. At cost. At the start of the season I also wondered why Carsley took the set pieces instead of going into the area. ( He is very tall) . It's because he hits the ball hard and pretty accurately.

6. I stand far side, opposite club house. Nearest to whichever end we play into. (Free movement all round) . I recommend the green tea bar on that side, run by a lovely lady who sells some home made stuff as well as the usual snacks. Food generally is quite good imho. Prices very fair.

7. I hope you enjoy it. My grandson, Nephew and son have all visited the Oval to watch BoroTown this season and each had a good time. Coton Green like many of our opponents will come to rough it and get in our faces. They will also probably play out of their skins. I hope BoroTown show you what has drawn some of us back this season by surmounting that and still bagging a few more goals.

It’s certainly great to see old and new fans returning, even saw a few new faces Saturday at Allexton , I’ll try and get round to see as many as I can … or just say hello
I would expect a larger than usual turnout Saturday , as weather hopefully set fair , decent opposition and just the entertainment value

The car park is usually full by 2.30pm , so arrive early or be prepared to be parking elsewhere
Media team are out in force Saturday with Twitter , facebook updates along with the all new goal cam . Now we are covered by CWR radio half time/full time reporting and we are being covered Saturday by a YouTuber .
So much going on UTT
