FIFA New 8 Second Rule For Goalkeepers
Views: 417
To be introduced in the summer. Yet another Fifa Rule Change that we don't need. Allegedly to speed up the game.
We used to have a 6 second rule for goalkeepers, that if breached should result in an indirect free kick. Only problem was that referees didn't enforce the law consistently so it fell into dis repute. Breaching the new law will result in a corner kick to the opposition. At the highest level suggesting an 8 second countdown on the scoreboards. TV theatre .
We don't need constant Law Changes ,just Match Officials to enforce consistently the current ones.

Agree heartily with those last two sentences.
From what I've seen at our level, keepers holding onto the ball too long seems less of a problem. In The Yo Yo League (Premier) with all the tv coverage, refs don't seem that bothered.
Next we need to outlaw the simulated injury (player collapses with cramp, followed by miracle recovery ) whilst everyone rushes over to the touchline to have an energy drink or a team talk.
