Nervy game that but we have the ability to score however its going . Some really good moves for the goals .
Three wins away and that's if HSJ don't drop another point . In fact our goal difference is so much better eight points will almost certainly do it .

Another tough hard fought win against a very good well set up side......
only gripe ..... we can't defend from corners or long throws ins.... need to work on that
Apart from that a well deserved win ...
Well done all

Bache was clearly injured early in the game, looked like a thigh problem.
Couldn’t kick, struggled to jump which certainly didn’t help with the goals conceded.
It also put pressure on back four unable to pass back when pressed.
Amazed nobody has raised this earlier.

I thought about mentioning it.
But thought I might get shouted at. :)
After the injury treatment I, believe he no longer took place kicks, either?

Me too!

Coton were feisty, less gobby than most of our opponents and therefore were able to focus more on their football. They made a fight of it, without a doubt. Aided by, it has to be said the worst referee I have seen this season, home or away.
That was a workmanlike, sleeves up kind of performance from us. They made us work hard : no doubt about it.
However, I hope some of those seeing BoroTown for the first time this season appreciated :
(1) some of the prettier football we strung together:
(2) the artistry of Danico and the ageless Justin Marsden:
(3) The clear love this squad have for the stripes:
(4) really good attitude shown whenever there's a setback-ie penalty missed or a goal conceded. Just heads up, go again and and get on with it.
We are so close now...

Please explain in your expert opinion on refs why he was the the worst.did he cost us a goal no.most of his bookings were correct.idon't go to watch refs unless they make absolute howlers, which he didn't, then just enjoy today's game

The 2nd Coton goal came from a corner that was an appalling decision

First half, seven times Coton gained possession in our half, then lost possession, fell over and earned an unnecessary free kick. That's kidology and good refs are alert to it.
I believe the keeper should have had a red after taking out our player. Dangerous play, Keeper was very cute about the penalty incident. Wouldn't call it "a howler"- but I do think the ref bottled that one. By the noise the crowd were making I think a few more felt the same.
Last five minutes the ref had a sudden rush of blood to the head and started booking players, actually holding up the game with his indecision. I cannot comment on the correctness of the actual bookings because I was at the other end of the field.
You undoubtedly have better eyesight than me, so I'll take your word for it that most yellow cards were correct.
As you say I come to watch the teams. Not the ref. It wasn't imho a dirty game so a good ref would have kept it flowing and maybe not have been so card happy.
First half he overruled his linos several times when imo their decisions were correct in the first place. Second half he paid more attention to them.
Whether he cost us a goal or not is immaterial when assessing his overall performance. He did not cost us the game but he was inconsistent.
My opinion is by no means "expert " although I have refereed and run the line at Junior level. Often a thankless task and abuse is unnecessary.
FTR I was not the only one who though the ref did not have a great game. Generally I think this season's standard has been quite good.
Not that it matters. We won anyway. And yes, like most of the others there, I did enjoy the game.

fwiw i was not there hence only my opinion / view going on the footage, is in line with yours.... Sauce
ie. a red card.
as it ended up no great damage done on the day
but that does not make it right.
ps a big well done to all concerned with the club on and off the field.
no easy feat from scratch

The rules have changed
A keeper can’t be sent off AND a penalty given if the keeper has made a legitimate attempt to get the ball.
So a red and a pen would only have been given if the keeper made no attempt to get the ball.

Yes so someone next to me said.
Silly rule.
Depends on ones definition of "made an attempt" I suppose.

I’m with you on it by the way
There was no attempt to do anything but take the player. And he gained an advantage by having chance to save the pen, which he did.

Thing is, the offence was punished multiple times.
1 - Penalty
2 - Play rest of the game with 10 players and (in case of a keeper) an out field player in goal.
3 - 1 match suspension.
I think if there was no attempt to get the ball legally then a red would have been issued.

If this was "an attempt to get the ball legally" then I am Taylor Swift.
It was an attempt to poleaxe an opponent to stop him scoring.
The keeper remained on the pitch to save the consequent penalty.

Dead right. As the replay now shows-he knew exactly what he was doing. Similar to an incident at the CBS yesterday (apparently).

We need 9 points to be uncatchable. That would give us 102. Heather St John’s can only get 101 and have a far inferior goal difference. Every point they drop, Boro’s target drops too. The home game v Leicester St Andrews on March 29 could be the day they win it.

Says so much about this squad that we keep finding a way to win, Coton gave us a game today but in the end we had the quality to get the 3 points

That wasn’t what I expected
Views: 909
It was what I expected, and better.
The ground is tidy, clean, and I’d say welcoming and friendly.
The football played is predominantly on the floor, and at a reasonable pace.
The people running the club such as Lee H and Mark L make effort to speak to the fans, and give a shit about them.
Everything from bar staff, to turnstile operators, to stewards such as Hubby, is welcoming and engaging.
Everyone there is there because they care about Boro/Nuneaton and with no agenda and with no ego.
That was a fantastic experience and even though it’s impossible for me to be a regular, I will envisage to be more regular than I have been. That made me want to come back, that made me engaged.
What a fantastic experience and those who’ve rebuilt this club should be amazingly proud of themselves.

Thanks for the kind words.
Me and Mark in many talk to the fans because, certainly for me, that's what we've always done, as we are just fans too. It's the same for everyone on the board to and all the 25 member of the steering group that got the club on it's feet again.
I think that is why fans are appreciating the set up, as it's truly by the fans for the fan. And any fan can get involved in running the club if they want to.

As I said to Lee Hayward and Andy Pace (and my missus), once a month next season!
I’m ‘hooked’ again, albeit from afar.
But that is well and truly my club.
