Another ex Boro player signed for Ginnelly at Barwell. Looks like ex Boro players are the only players he knows. Even with 9 of them they are struggling.

He did save Nuneaton Boro though- was well supported as the Boro saviour with any critics of his methods totally lambasted and discredited with online personal abuse and other threats.
As it goes without his involvement Town would not be champions of level 6.
So town fans do have something to thank him for.
Would be interesting to see how he would have faired managing town at the current level which is perhaps the level he should be at.

He posted on here during the final days of the club, obviously now timed out, that the demise was not just about the non-payment of rent and that he would be issuing an “ official statement “ to inform us. I haven’t seen one though.

I have noticed on JG Facebook page he often posts about "the good old days" about his time at the Boro'.

Would he of got us promotion this season with his players ????

But JG believes he did nowt wrong - it was all others fault and historic debt and many of his fans and followers still believe this - and they probably believe there were 5000 at the play off final and that he didn’t slag fans off on Boro chat when they moaned about losing to Berkhampstead.

Valid point but understandably the new club have not dismissed the history of the club that existed before JG. JG was a big part of that history so can’t be ignored.
On a slight tangent. Anyone know what happened to the club his side kick left to “save the Boro”. Someone told me they have chance of a 3rd promotion in 3 years…… surely not true 🤪🤪🤪

Why is it on this forum for weeks and weeks we hear nothing about previous owners, chairman , managers , then it all starts again , same old , same old , I take it the people spouting all this stuff are not part of the 400 plus who now watch the Boro home and away, the club is now being run the best it has for years , every thing that happened in the past is dead and buried ,so we move on to better things and a much brighter future..

IF the new club continues to use all of the old clubs good memories, eg stating things like ‘our best ever run’, ‘our first league title since 1999’, then it can’t ignore the bad parts of the past too.
That’s very selective.
We are either a new club or we aren’t.
You can’t pick and choose the bits you want.

Don’t get me wrong, I think the new club is doing fantastically well and I enjoyed my visit recently.
My point to 44 simply being, we can’t only keep/speak about the nice memories and times. The bad existed too.
Embrace it all, or not at all.

Spot on.
JG broke my addiction to watching football and in particularly the club I have travelled the country for !!! Cough !!! Years/decades.
I never foresaw a day that would happen - I remember planning everything round Saturday / Tuesday.
I am dead chuffed with what I am hearing about the new club. Bottom line is those paying at the gates feel part of the setup and enjoying the experience (helped by results)
Personally I would like to have see more distance put beteeen the old club but 100% appreciate why it’s not happened.
If Nuneaton borough had never existed then Nuneaton town (2024) would not have either.

That's a very good point MJNB & well made.
For me, the 'new Club' seems to have an identity crisis.
To try to clarify what I mean, I will refer to the Birmingham County FA's approach.
For the 'new Club' to continue as 'the Boro' the FA will expect them to 'earn that right'.
That happened when Ian Neale's incarnation Nuneaton Town were able to revert to being Nuneaton Borough, with the FA's approval.
That took a long time!
The supporters can affectionately refer to the 'new Club' as 'the Boro' but technically it is Nuneaton Town FC CIC & for the present it is very much a 'new Club'.
The acid test for me, will be if the 'new Club' pursues the ambition once again to be called Nuneaton Borough.
Nuneaton Borough is my Club & it still exists, Boro Leisure Ltd's 'strike-off' was suspended on 24th June 2024.
Just my thoughts!

It does not matter what its official title is. As long as the fans recognise it as Boro/Town it is Boro/Town. The difference is when you have a Wimbledon/Milton Keynes Dons situation when Wimbledon fans no longer recognise the club.

Re: Greg Kaziboni

Informally, I agree but formally it does matter as far as the FA are concerned.
At the start of this season, Nuneaton Griff would have been considered to be the Senior Club in Nuneaton, based on status & league position but with the Boro's promotion next season Nuneaton Town FC CIC will become the Senior Club in the town.
My question is 'will the new Club seek to repeat what the previous incarnation of Nuneaton Town achieved in reverting to being Nuneaton Borough, achieved with the FA's approval & gained on merit' or 'will it strive to become a recreational community club, settling for a position at Level 7/Step 3'
In supporting 'the Boro' for 60 years, I have always been proud of our on-field achievements, for the most part as an Elite football club, worthy of representing a town the size of Nuneaton, with a current population of circa 90,000

While I agree with the sentiments of your post 44,I’m afraid that the issue cannot be buried before a full inquest had been performed in the open to the paying public. The loss of our football club has not be fully explained and many are suggesting that they know the inside story, but I doubt that because the secrecy could never have been kept at this point. So yes whilst I agree that the regurgitation of the subject is annoying, only when the truth is revealed will it go away.

Trouble is 44 people like you brush everything under the carpet and then repeat the mistakes of the past again and again - Boro collapsed financially 3 times since 1990- as they say those who refuse to learn from their history are doomed to repeat it. Failing to learn from the JG and other eras will see the prospect of failure yet again further down the line.

The club is being ‘run better than it has been for years’ because it is factually only a year old.
You can’t tell us to forget about the past, then make a statement like the above. We are either a continuation- warts and all- or we have started afresh.

I have not forgotten the past
Views: 354
Indeed I spend far too long reminiscing over You Tube clips of past memories . I'm like that Larsen cartoon where a recently widowed Wolf watches old home movies of his past (and deceased) love. I have a loft full of memorabilia and a wardrobe full of replica shirts to remind me of better days.
Nor have I forgotten the recent past. Or forgiven those responsible for what happened. I doubt I ever will.
It is for both those reasons that I returned to The Oval after my first visit there early this season to watch BoroTown. Indeed, despite what some suggest it is BECAUSE certain individuals have not as yet reappeared that I continued to go. That plus the excellent football led by the coaching staff.
If any of those responsible for the recent crash were to come anywhere near "us" I would immediately have to review my current commitment.

the club is now apparently being run in a fit and proper manner.
a big well done to all concerned , a comment i have stated several times on here
since the club has been reformed
however IMHO you cant just bury its history and say nothing ever happened before the present day
clubs up and down the country and indeed ones in foreign fields/lands
live on past glories events disasters etc etc the list is endless. its called life
i dont attend now but that does not mean that the past 70 plus yrs
of supporting the club through thick and thin is meaningless. not to me it isnt
how many times have people on here relived their treasured moments
we all have them good and bad.
praise and criticism is the part and parcel of any club.

Town/Boro is the fans history. There would be no club without the fans. It’s still Boro/Town because of the collective memories and future experiences of the fans. Players, managers “owners” come and go but it’s the fans that keep it going.

it would be very interesting indeed to get the real lowdown.
how far the debts went back and how much was owed to who ?????
also who locked the club out ? surely that had to be the stadium owner.
if he/they were not owed rent then what was the real reason ?
just spite ? i dont know for sure...... hence i will pass.
indeed who does know..... will it ever come to light ?
there had to be valid reasons for it to transpire

Nope - you created a new club - the old club was destroyed and most worshiped the individual who helped it fall.
The new club should have begun the day Thorne walked out and we would perhaps have been spared the 5 year horror show that unfolded -
May the new club go from strength to strength but please god don’t repeat the mistakes op the past.
Any club has to be respectful to all its stakeholders and not the play thing of one individual intent on caressing their own ego.

I believe some them supporters followed him to Barwell, aint seen them at any of our games since we formed. Be interested to see if Jimmy ever makes an appearance as a spectator or will he keep away. My fear is once is time at Barwell is done, he will try get himself involved with us again and try get himself on the board.
