Scarborough Athletic homeless again ?
I've not seen this mentioned anywhere, but Scarborough Athletic have had some devastating news regarding the relaying of our artificial pitch. In a story that resonates with Farsley's situation in our league this season, we will not have a playable pitch for 2025/26.
What should have been a straightforward close-season pitch replacement has turned into a potentially catastrophic situation whereby £3m of repair works to drainage and subsided land needs to be undertaken before the pitch can even be started. A survey suggests the initial works when the ground was built in 2017 were not to an appropriate standard, and this has resulted in real problems under the pitch. The pitch will not pass another FIFA inspection, and so we are without a home ground for 2025/26, with the council not likely to meet to discuss whether they will even fund the repair works until June.
For fans who have seen Scarborough FC die, and who groundshared at Bridlington for ten whole years before finally getting home and getting up to Step 2, this is heartbreaking news. The chairman has been on various media outlets in floods of tears trying to make sense of what has occured out of the blue.
Watch this space. It's going to be a traumatic year or so for the Seadogs.

North Yorkshire Council are now engaged with the Contractors who constructed the 3G pitch 8 years ago.
NYC are of the opinion that a pitch of that age should not have failed.
The cost of the pitch replacement remains at £3 million & will take 44 weeks to complete.
Scarborough Athletic are now exploring the possibilities of a groundshare next season, while NYC debate how the new pitch is going to be financed?

VoR, how can it take 44 weeks to replace the pitch? If that's the case, Boro and Beduff won't be playing at The Oval next season.

Underlying structural problems & problems with the drainage.
Edit:
NYC have stated that the new pitch should have cost circa £300k but the cost of the remedial works & the new pitch will be circa £3million & take 44 weeks.
It's unclear at the moment who will be footing the bill?

Artificial pitches are required by the FA to be tested annually, at the Clubs expense.

It has been mentioned so many times on here and elsewhere. It is imperative that any ground is future-proofed.

John Sisk, the Company that I last worked for before retiring, are building the new North Stand extension at the Etihad, which is adding a further 6,000 seats.
They started in 2023.
They also built the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
