Heaven knows what Cradley will do next Wednesday evening to us if we play like that again. Wonder who will be our keeper to add ?

Only just found out the injury reason for his substitution.A head injury and Nothing to do with his previous thigh injury,so I thought that the fairest thing to do was to delete my original post.

My first thought was that it was a recurrence.
The concussion/head injury could have happened to anyone.

If we show the typical guts and determination that we did on Saturday, after the (excellent) second half substitutions, (and as we have done virtually all season), Cradley will not be able to live with us.
Great run for Smethwick's pen. Clear pen, too. (Could not see from where I was on Saturday.
Whatever happens, it won't detract from one of the best seasons football wise for ages.
Put Acco in goal. Senior or Junior. ( Is Bache definitely out then?)
These highlights are better than the Mullered Sports ones imho as they show our approach work up well.

Couldn't make it as things turned out ,but kept in touch via the Forum. ( Pity as I could have added Bescot to the circa 120 grounds I have already been to).
As Vernon says elsewhere, we'll let the absence of a reserve 'keeper on the bench and a 0-1 loss in a minor Cup competition go, after one of our best seasons football and entertainment -wise in years.
Pod made me chuckle with the Tinpot comment-that was an adjective which used to fly around on the Forum whenever there was a setback. Ah the memories! Last night was possibly Cradley's biggest night ever whereas we have The Riverside, various promotions, Bournemouth Swansea, Stoke and 22,114 at MP to reflect on.
Let's hope the lads stay lithe and slim (!!)) close season, and come back fit, well and raring to go with the same qualities they have shown this season. Whatever league we end up in. ( I was scanning some of the Non-League play-off semis online last night-there have been some remarkable attendances this week and last). Wonder if we'll make NLP and Flashscore next season?

Even with Baker in goal there was only that one mix up just after he came on that cost us, we should have won really with better balls into the box. Poundshop was a new ground for most us and all the away matches this season I went to bar two were new grounds for me, there are some I dont want to go back to either.

As much as Johnson has been great this season, we really need to go out and get a better striker for next season imo.
I know they’re hard to come by but we should attract the best of the levels around us.

We should be able to entice any player in the league we've just left ....... wages depending.
I was thinking we only need 2 or 3 players coming in with about the same going out but something in me thinks several may get better offers and leave ....
Then a major recruitment might take place again ....
Time will tell ......

It's a strange thing to suggest with the goals we've scored this season but i feel we need strengthening in the attacking third . We also lack something in midfield i can't quite put my finger on what but we definitely need strengthening . I'd say we also need a bit more pace , a lot of our side are 30+ and we could do with bringing that down a bit .

i sense your being realistic here.
can i ask a question bearing in mind i have absolutely no knowledge of the standards at these levels
ie. is the next level much of a much'ness or a real step up ?
i would have thought that the gap is a moderate one
unlike say getting promoted at previous levels.
not trying to detract from the achievements
just putting my football hat on. ref your talk of needing maybe a few better players in.
cheers.

I think the standards will be similar but more of a competition between 10 teams rather than 4 or 5. We need to look at how Lichfield won it.

I think too that the standard will be similar ,but whereas last season’s squad was a quantity unknown basis, this next season’s squad will address the obvious weaknesses in the squad. The regular fans will know what they are. I would predict six or maybe seven imports will be on the cards. And before any stones are thrown, this takes nothing away from last season’s triumph one jot. It was a job well done with a squad hastily assembled by a new management team.

I've watched loads of games at step 5 & 6 and it is only a small step . Think bert's dad is about right with his assessment . At least half the division will be competitive but there will still be a handful of sides who are weak . Most of our squad look good enough for step 5 and have earned the chance to have a go but we probably need 3 or 4 new faces if were to compete at the top end .
