We've got no history?

"That’s the first hat-trick in the clubs history!" (Re Jardine yesterday).

Great start to this season, especially after the top work in the last campaign.

But every week we seem to have our first ever FA Cup game, or first hattrick, or first time we've ever played in blue and white stripes, etc

I know I'm guilty of looking at the past through rose tinted glasses, but I'm sure I've seen these things before... or have I... help.

You wouldn't have seen us play in the Vase before (:

Seriously though if we claim past history of previous clubs people come on here saying were not the same club . If we embrace the fresh start well you know how that goes .

For me were somewhere in between . Best way i can think of putting it were now Town but all clubs i've supported in the lineage are ' The Boro ' and i'm fine with that .

Thanks for the replies.

I was a startled/confused by all these first time ever messages, but understand and wont get hung up on it as in my head I'm supporting the same club I've always supported.

It's all about merit.

As I have said recently on here, it is about process.

Ian Neale's previous incarnation of 'Town' declared an intent to return to being called 'Nuneaton Borough'.

That needed to be achieved on merit & through performance, to satisfy the FA & was driven by the supporters & successfully achieved by the Club...they followed the process through to a conclusion.

I have seen no such intent demonstrated by the new Club...Nuneaton Town FC CIC.

Therefore the 'Town' IMO is a brand new Club.

Another recent example of the FA's process being successfully followed through is BURY.

Their supporters passionately wanted to return to being called Bury & that was successfully achieved on merit through performance & achievement.

Just my thoughts!

Edit:

When the poll was held to name the new Club, from memory 'Nuneaton' was an option & the FA exerted their influence in the new Club being named 'Nuneaton Town'.

This enabled the new Club to follow on from the previous sequence of name changes.

That all makes sense to me.

There will always remain the opportunity for the new Club to return to being called 'Nuneaton Borough' but IMO until that is a declared intent the new Club is the 'Town' & not the 'Boro'.

Thanks VoR.

Yes, the constant 'first time ever' rhetoric would concur, amd good points on merit.

I'll keep supporting the same club I've always supported as that makes me happy.

Why 4 letters matter?

Has anyone ever referred to this club as “town”?

Nuneaton Borough have gone bust at least twice and many close calls.
Not many clubs have been expelled from a league.

whatever the location, ground, colour kit, official name, level, status, whatever, the football club will always be 'The Boro'

will be the nickname regardless, and memories associated (even if not 'formally' historically) are one and all

Yes, I think that is true for most 'Boro' supporters.

It is borne out of raw emotion.
