Don't think we can have too many complaints , Histon got their tactics spot on . An early goal from our achilles heel , headers from set pieces . Then nine , ten men behind the ball but enough pace to be a problem on the break . We huffed & puffed and came agonisingly close to equalising on a number of occasions , but in the end of the day we lacked the quality to turn it round and we're far to predictable .

Disappointing, but it was a case of so close on a number of occasions. It could’ve easily have been a win.
On a positive note, we actually played better football than for some time.
The half time substitutions were both spot on.
It was a day when both sides both tried to play decent stuff, so Jones and Hendrie were more effective.

I thought it was a quality game at this level but I couldn’t help thinking we could have done with Spruce to come on in that second half.

Off day for a few too many today. Whereas Histon were right on it throughout ,every one of them and that made the difference. Ball went backwards or sideways from us too often for my liking. I think we are at our best going forward and keeping it there, on the deck. (Callum excepted who can sometimes lump it into the net from distance).

Scenes at the end a little too hysterical: the result obviously meant a lot more to their fans and players than it did to ours. Reaction from Terry and The Riverside I suppose? When we were both better more important clubs.

We need to sort this out sharpish or dreams of a move back home and a new super stadium are premature and will need to be put on hold.

It's going to be a scrap from now on and promotion is not a given.

Not sure about beetle football but some of it gave me the creeps. :-)

First of all what do we think as gone wrong ?, are we playing a different formation/system ,we don't seem to be doing what we were doing at the start of the season passing it on the floor working triangles, little one twos and trying different things, lately it seems hoofing the ball up and hope (nothing wrong with the hoofng the ball but not all the while like we have been doing the last few games).
Have teams found us out stopping Carsley ,we have been lucky for a few games now in the vase and cup competitions against teams lower than us,we have to try to get it together like at start of season ,yes agree we have given points away teams can overtake now with games in hand silly goals we are conceding.
Just a thought does anyone else think this.

I mentioned this to a few people yesterday. At the beginning of the season we played flowing football and opponents struggled to get any control. Now they seem to have worked out that if they close mark, with two players on Kyle and pushing Callum back, it stops us playing.

I said a few weeks back that that we seemed to need three goals to get anything from games. We conceded eight goals in three games, the last being our first league defeat. Overall we have performed well but we cannot seem to keep a clean sheet. It seemed to me that corners and free kicks, ie, set pieces are our Achilles heel

Why don't we put players on the posts anymore, the amount of goals from free kick and corners at near post is very poor

It's going to be a scrap from now on and promotion is not a given.

At one stage we were about ten points clear , now there's a group of teams right on our heels and one could go ahead of us with a game in hand . Even our goal difference has been overhauled . Our next three games are Lutterworth , Aylesford & Moulton all top 6 we need more points from those games than we drop .

Boro were poor and failed to create anything in the first half. This shape does not suit Jardine at all, he becomes far too isolated and it allows both centre halves to man mark him. You can see he's becoming frustrated with it.

For me its been the same the last few games now and in the past we’ve been lucky to get a result, today were came up against a better side who didn’t allow us to have that luck.

Thought the officials were appalling too!

Did you not see the two blatant hand balls? Ball cross the line from Harrisons cross? 90 mins of Jardine being pushed and shoved at every opportunity? Keeper putting his palm in one of our players faces and receive no card…

I must of watched a different game.

To be fair, I was by the corner flag looking along and it didn't cross the line IMHO. The incident with their keeper after Dec's "enthusiastic" challenge was another matter. Should have been a straight red, ref didn't even talk to him. Two potential handballs missed by the lino too. VAR would have been our friend today.

Hesson is playing for Chelmsley Town ' gaining some game time ' .
In the past this has also applied to Harry Jackson , James Spruce and some of the young lads who came through the previous clubs academy , none have returned .
Maybe Jose Whitehouse but he was soon gone again .

He's certainly a great little player and a real handful, played in the right position.

But he wasn't today. He fed off scraps and got bullied. Not his fault at all. He's never a number nine. He's what us old ba***rds call "an inside forward"

Our opponents today like many we have faced recently, were taller, stouter, stronger, fitter and younger. It was easy for them to cancel him out, aided by a lenient referee who had clearly never ever played up front. He seemed to view the knocking Kyle about benignly as part of the rough and tumble. It isn't. Bigger men pushing and shoving smaller men over is just cheating.

I feel that Jardine lurking behind or alongside someone who can give it back in the rough stuff like Danico or Aaron might produce more goals. Or even Danico and Kyle switching frequently during a game. Leaving the poor sod on his own and pumping high balls up to him is a waste of resource imho.

He certainly needs support at times in fact regularly yesterday Kyle & Essa found themselves isolated against 4 or 5 defenders with a huge wasteland back to any other boro players with no support arriving . Histon were full of players in their mid twenties and it showed .
