Progress check

18 months into the rebirth of the ‘Boro’, how are we all feeling?
- are you enjoying the experience at Bedworth?
- are you happy paying the highest entrance fees in the league (for adults), will this always be the case even when boro have their own ground?
- on the pitch it couldn’t have gone any better, what do you want as a supporter, consistently moving up the leagues and eventually find our sustainable level or just see how far we can go?
- happy with how the club is being run?
- thoughts on Vale View? Do you as a supporter feel appropriately lobbied for our opinions, do you think the site will be fit for purpose?
- do you think the club feels different than before?
Just some questions on my mind and wondered how everyone feels about the club (more than just on field results) now we have been back for 18 months or so.

I have to say I am enjoying the rebirth of the new club
Seeing familiar faces and seeing new faces it’s always good to add to the growing list of supporters coming through the turnstile
Do I feel it’s a fan run club no not at all still believe there is a long way to go before we get there but it takes time for anything new to feel right
I personally feel like the young fans who sing and travel in there numbers was told there the future of the club but they have been slagged off moaned at for what they do which is try and back the team,
I just believe it’s to clicky clicky down there and that shouldn’t happen.
I will remain positive on that front but there is still a long way to go for me to trust certain people at that club.

Thanks for somebody else who thinks the young fans are our future,I agree everything you have just remarked about the young fans that travel home and and away and have been told to shut up not on at all ,let them sing their hearts out we are like a library at the moment nobody singing incase they get chastised let the boys sing come on you 'Boro Rangers ' let's hear you from now on sing your hearts out get the boys promoted I for one thoroughly enjoy your singing come get going again,I was there at Newport Pagnell wow we were loud ,you wouldn't hear a league club like Villa etc telling their fans to stop singing.

Have they really been asked to stop singing? I thought they had been asked not to sing one specific song - that's a far cry from being told not to sing!

Attending matches now is like a breath of fresh air compared with what was served up under the last regime.
Getting to Bedworth is no more of a treck than it was going to Liberty way from Stockingford.
As for Vale view I am open minded. It may not suit everyone but as far as I know it is the only site on offer ,so if not there then what other choice do we have? One site that would tick more boxes for me would be the old Hauchwood site at Robinsons end. Plenty of land with no nearby housing.

I for one suggested the old Haunchwood football ground but someone replied lack of parking but if you think about it it could be made for parking as well it is out the way nobody can moan about being near them with the floodlight etc good call .

Good post. Especially the first two sentences.
As for the return, yes I too am open minded. Given that there is a breath of fresh air (which most of us are agreed is a pleasant change from the past), I would like to think that when the time comes (no "if"), we could transfer that vibe across to anywhere now.
I am also very old. So I confess, that if Hell froze over and the Nuns and Boro shelved their differences, the move back to LW could be in my lifetime. Not quite so sure I will make it to the other proposed sites, given the planning/building procedures involved.

Yes in the ideal world the ground is already there but the landlords do not want us ,is it true we try to buy the ground and they were not interested?

Things can change.
Cov were once exiled to Northampton. (Seem to have recovered a bit since then).
Open minded. as I said.
Never say never.

Am I right in thinking that in points terms, the total gathered over the last 12 months is an all time BoroTown record?
On the pitch, and the way the club is currently run, happier than I have been in a long time. Which is why I bought a season ticket. I feel welcome now. Under previous regimes there were times when I did not feel the same way.
Wish the past fiascos had not happened.. but at least we are making a go of it now.
Long term aspirations? Continue to play good football:
promotion:
return to Nuneaton but in a ground that is safe and accessible:
Another cup run would be great.

I'm no statto, but I think you could well be right.
However the caveat is that we've gained the record points total playing mostly village teams at our lowest level of football for well over 70 years, so a bit of perspective is needed I think. 👍😁

In freezing temperatures. Says it all, really.
Nowhere near the poor attendances we used to get at LW under the previous regime of The Saviour.
I can remember standing freezing my nuts off in The Biscuit Tin with no-one nearby, watching us lose over and over again. With not a whimper from the crowd.
I started watching the Boro at MP because I was sick of boring League football elsewhere. Village teams or not-some of us are enjoying the ride right now.
Sorry/not sorry.

football has changed out of all recognition since the 1950s
through most of the 50's we played in the old * Birmingham league
the top non league was the southern league
not sure about the northern end of football
then football was finely restructured in 1958.... long overdue
attendances at the Boro exploded 4 & 5000 gates were more often than not
with a couple i remember reaching the 6000 + mark.
the initial manager appointed was Angus Morrison
the football league operated a closed door system
many survived by virtue of the closed shop system
ie. voting their mates back in. time after time. no matter what
* your talking of the likes of Fred Slater Stan James Arthur Corbett & Bill Jessop etc etc
also all the above is from memory. + i watched a lot of midlands top flight stuff.
from the 56 season onwards often wnen we were away
(so again) its all from memory.

We did well from January 1975 until Vincent’s car crash in November and that was at the highest non-league level. Carr’s side may have done better at an even higher kevel

It was january 1974, after the win at Dover that the run started, that you refer to. Not 1975!

Easy mistake to make, as it was 51 years ago. That time ,under Coleman, was the most enjoyable time watching the Boro. From being bottom of the table at the new year we went on a run that saw us beat Weymouth when they were top; chelmsford 3-0 when they were top then Ron Atkinsons Kettering 4-0. We finished mid table having got a draw with the title winners Dartford.

Great times. We had the four Bobs(Newton, Mackay, Vincent & Turpie. The Dartford game stands out in my memory. I remember Joey Owen's shot hitting the underside of the crossbar and the Tribune's match report quoting their manager Ernie Morgan - "Marvellous, bloody marvellous. We're top of the league and Fa Trophy holders and you win a few games and get a crowd of nearly 4000."
And for some bizarre reason I remember the attendance figure, which was 3814.

It’s funny how the memory plays tricks after 50+ years. I mis-remembered the away game at Grantham on New Years Day as the turning point, but that was actually rock bottom - the win at Dover was the next match. As you say, happy days!

I feel exactly the same way and have the same long term aspirations. I have my club back that I have supported for over 50 years and am loving it. So much so that I have renewed my season ticket , joined the 200 club , sponsored the odd player and buy 50/50 and golden goal tickets whenever I attend home games.
Knowing for the first time in our chequered history that its all going toward the right place , long term development of our club. Thank you management , directors and all the volunteers take a bow. "Up the new Boro"
