We were absolutely hanging on 70s Stalwart. Borough started well, great opening early goal and a well worked second put us in the driving seat. But Hinckley’s perseverance and young legs made us look a bit pedestrian and their deserved goal put the cat amongst the pigeons for sure.We were for thirty minutes of the second half like headless chickens.Brandon is a far better keeper than his display today and how many times must we say that Jardine is a poacher,a sniffer or any other cliche but he is not a target man to play hoof ball to and that’s what we continue to do. Their number five apparently is from Nuneaton,17 years old and has recently left Atherstone to play regularly,we should talk to him ! This season is far from over on this showing but three points in the bag. Rant over.
Little by little.

All strikers live and die with the service they get , and Kyle is getting very little of the service he wants , and some fans are are getting restless I’m sorry to say, it’s as though the ball gets booted up the pitch and everybody expects him to score , things need to change , and quickly.

James Harrison
Views: 627
For someone, who admittedly, doesn’t watch us often, I was really impressed with this lad.
My type of footballer- works hard, busy, bit of flair about him, bit of swagger, and some quality to back it up.
Took his goal well, has an excellent first touch, always in and around the box trying to make stuff happen.
Really rated him.

Agreed. With the caveat that ( blue tinted specs on) , I cant fault our work rate anywhere yesterday. That is generally how we play nowadays which is one of several reasons why people are coming back to watch us.
Viewing the goals again, Jardine's back heeled assist still looks delightful. Quality.

Holding on ? I have just uploaded the highlights on veo and I cannot find one save Brandon had to make. In second half . We defended very well and hit the woodwork twice in the second half .
I guess we all see it differently…

Far from holding on, just not a particularly good second half from either side. Very scrappy.
But as you said, Boro hit the post and bar whilst they created nothing. Inch difference twice and it’s 4-1.

I saw a good home keeper, a side immersed in a local derby, defending bravely, and some near misses. Hinckley would not lie down, and I don't blame them.
I was as frustrated as anyone as the second half wore on. But we got the three points and I'm happy with that. Winning ugly? No. Just winning.
I do see (and have mentioned before) that Kyle is a goal poaching inside forward and not a target man. He tried really hard to feed off what he was given today, but was fighting a losing battle against tall defenders. He is at his best when feeding off scraps or knockdowns from a taller strike partner. I'll name no names, because I'll just get shouted at.
However, I was HUGELY chuffed to do the double over Stinkley, even it was in that strange outpost of Barwell.
The table does not (and cannot) lie. Don't count me in the restless. I LOVE studying that table every Saturday night.

Second half our priority seemed to be defending the lead rather than looking to extend it so Hinckley had a lot of the ball were as we played on the break . Despite that Hinckley never really created much whereas we had by far the better chances .

Great win up the road

Typical Derby. Very frenetic. I thought we’d run away with it first half but our genuine neighbours battled hard second half.
Good crowd and many Nuneatonians travelled from next door.
The icing on the cake was March’s draw. I wonder who our promotion rivals are now? Atherstone? C*v United?
Well done all!

Sensible thinking.
But I think March have won one in five. I wonder if it’s injuries or fatigue? I think they play again this midweek at Cambridge.
So I think it will end up being the team from the Ghost Town ten miles away.
Either way we’ve just got to keep going! Result was everything yesterday.

Absolutely. Gustavus and Sauce in complete agreement.
Have now found March result. Not on FWP. 1-1 home to Aylestone.

Reading yesterday's programme he's still there.
But is he?
Also did anyone not there on Saturday realise that Alex Dean and Alex Lock were there?
Small world.

Barwell

That made me chuckle. It was my first visit there. The proximity of the pitch to spectators yields a fine range of reactions and swear words. ( It's a two way process as the ref turned round when I suggested from a stand that he might have travelled there on the 148).
HAFC were, (as I have noted elsewhere),well fired up for it. Lock I suspect more than most. Alex was so long ago I'd think he's over it now?
