Yes, another good result which adds more pressure on the chasing teams. It shows what can be achieved without throwing silly money at it!

On Thursday at the forum we were told what the budget was set as, what it will be for next season, how much has been spent so far this season, what revenue has been taken in, how much the players are paid individually (lower and higher limit)
I really don’t see how we could be more transparent than we being!

Yes, the club is being transparent, which is a refreshing change. The previous post was that fans of other clubs believe that our success is down to us splashing the money to get such results.

I heard a that a player who was playing at a Step 3 club left to go to Aylestone Park for more money. My bet is their playing budget is higher than ours. We have a good management team, who seem to be able to recruit good players and keep within the set budget. They deserve much praise for the splendid job they have done.

Was told by a reliable source that there are players at this level on £200 - £300 per week . Not saying this is every player but certain players at some clubs . Two players have recently left step 3 clubs for Lutterworth on more money .
The same reliable source told me boro's priority is finding players who want to play for the club and fit in with the squad and the wage budget .

We've lost out trying to bring in players because they are getting those sorts of amounts at other clubs at Step 5 and Step 6.
Part of it is "silly season" - clubs around the play-offs throwing money around trying to gain promotion. Last season there was a club in our league that upped it's budget for the run it to nearly double ours

I think that most fans appreciate the clubs stance regarding sticking to a budget. All to often in the past ,the most recent past especially, money was thrown around with little to no regard of the consequences of such actions.

Also heard that a player signed for March a few weeks ago on £500 a game .... not a week ... a game

Re: Full Time

This was my point. Supporters, and especially managers ,of clubs that are not succesful always seem to cite the spending power of the more succesful clubs as the recipe for their success. This was the case in the nineties with Rushden ,when they acquired the Irthlingborough ground and spent millions creating possibly the best non league ground in the country. Were we jealous of them; sure we were! Mr Griggs gave them a few years of success but that success was built on sand, not firm long term foundations which led to their demise. The ground has been demolished and the club is back playing at their former ground in Rushden. This should have been a lesson to other clubs about throwing money around to try and gain an advantage. However ,that lesson was not learned and our club like many others, admitedly to a lesser extent, have been guilty of the same folly which is why since I have supported them we have gone bust three times.
