A very good question. As a season ticket holder and a Life Member of the Co-op I'd like to know the answer to that.
News to me. What happened to the new transparency?

I suspect the transparency is working fine, while someone's imagination is in overdrive.

Can't be any more transparent than saying there has bern no suggestion or discussion about changing from Nuneaton Town!

There has been without any doubt at all, a few rumours flying about recently . The best thing to do with any false rumours or chinese whispers (can we still use that phrase?) is to squash them. As you have now done.
A simpler statement issued earlier might have read something like this:
" We are aware that on social media there has been some conjecture about a "vote" on a "name change." The current Board and all those associated with our club can confirm that no such vote has taken place and no name change is being contemplated for the moment."
This would have rendered the rumour mill redundant in an instant.
I think that given the past history of the club, a little unease about alleged mystery votes or name changes in suspicious circumstances is quite understandable. At one time I had first hand experience of some of the shadier characters involved in the "running" (down?) of various manifestations of "The Boro." It has taken a long time for those wounds to heal for some of us. For others it is simply too much. They say they will never return.
I have proven my faith in the current set up by:
Renewing a season ticket:
becoming a sponsor:
attending home and away matches:
introducing new supporters:
being part of the 200 club:
telling any remaining doubters what they are missing this season and last.
But I reserve the right to query things occasionally.

Just keep things as they are.

I get what you are saying, but it was a handful of comments on a web forum that I happened to spot. I've seen nothing on social media. If the club put out a statement based on these few comments 99.9% of fans would have know idea what had happened.
Also, responding to rumours would make a massive rod for the clubs back. Anyone could spark some rubbish just to force the club into responding.
I'd also amend your suggest wording to remove "for the moment", I'd be personnally surprise if the club ever even considered changing it's name.

You’ve responded in the right way! It’s just mischief making.
I hope we stay as Nuneaton Town. It’s a better and more appropriate name for the Club anyway and it distances it from all the shenanigans over the last forty years at least.

I wasn't the source of the rumours.
I was made aware of the rumours.
I have still not seen a coherent explanation of how or where they emanated.
I don't particularly care what they are called. ( I nominated Real Donithorne and that was rejected).
I support Nuneaton Borough. And always will. The name and the memories of the past are mine: they are not the intellectual property of any incomer who came along after all the glorious history and chose to blacken it.
I'll see a few (but not all) of you tomorrow.

So far we've had rumours that Kyle is unhappy with our style and is considering leaving (untrue), there have been meetings to discuss a name change (untrue) and (OK, almost certainly tongue in cheek) sand snakes at the site of the new ground. Where would you draw the line for which the club should respond to?
Let's be sensible - the club should give us news when there is news. If there's no news, then there's no need to issue a statement.

Dunno what a sand snake is. Never heard of it. Managerius Ginellia?

We all get whispers from people who heard it from someone in the know. I for one trust the present people running the club to inform the fans concerning the on ,or off ,pitch issues. We have done well these last two seasons, since reforming ,which may have ruffled a few feathers with personnel attached to the old regime . Perhaps what we hear on the grapevine ,eminates from them.

Asking questions or seeking qualification is bizarre behaviour? Well, maybe under certain political regimes it may be, yes.
Otherwise I don't agree that it is bizarre. The club has a virtually uniquely chequered history. Quite a lot of which you could not write. If people seek reassurance-then it is good business and management strategy to reassure them. Truth costs nothing.
Well in some countries, anyway.
Obsessing about floodlights and EFL applications-well maybe that is a tad bizarre.

Thing is the name change has happened before, we've been down that road before. I thought it might have some validity to it.
Am I in the wrong thinking that ?
Am I wrong in thinking here we go again ?

There seems to be a section who wants the name Boro back ( again ).
Im sure the club will come clean on this, and not try and hide it. ( Again .... if true )

100% not true. It would be a retrograde step given the history of failure as "Borough". The FA would also block it, so it's pointless even discussing it.

As i said if true ....
Got told tonight that they ( by that i dont know ) wanted the name changed back to Nuneaton Boro, but it has to be 2 years until they could look at it with companies house etc. They then had a vote on it and was decided to keep it as Town.
I must stress this may not be true but unless you ask the question ? You dont find out, so hence my question.

Re: So we stay as Town ...

That categorically didn't happen.
The FA wouldn't sanction a change to Nuneaton Borough, and even if they did it would destroy all the credibility we've built up with the partners and stakeholders we need on board for the "back to Nuneaton" project. For those reasons it's never even been discussed let alone voted on.

Thanks LH....
But if ever we wanted to ...
I suspect the FA would sanction a change in name if conditions were met 🤔 it happened last time, i cant see any reason why it couldnt/wouldn't happen again unless outstanding bills, debts etc still exist. These could then be wipped off with a bankruptcy agreement .... Again....others may know more about stuff like this .

I do know, as I would have been one of those that would be part of any vote.
Technical, it could be changed in the future, but bare in mind the legal entity behind Nuneaton Borough still exists (Boro Leisure Ltd) and it could be 3 to 5 years before that is wound up. The FA would probably knock back any requested for another 3 years.
And would we want to return to a name that is a byword for financial failure in football circles? We've moved on.

We're aways be the boro, Nuneaton Town name is just for official paperwork. The idea of saying "come on town" sounds weird. Boro is the club nickname end of.
Going back to Nuneaton Borough maybe something to explore perhaps few years down the line when the club is back in Nuneaton, but not top priority at the present.

This thread is a waste of space. It’s based on a rumour with nothing officially from Town. Changing back to Boro hardly proved to be lucky. This is a new club with a new name. Nothing wrong with having the Boro as a nickname. Stop messing about over names ad concentrate on getting a new ground.

First enquiry, met with an answer would have entailed two posts only. However we are now all adding to it making it longer.
(Darn it! Just done it myself!). :-)
Things is, midweek without a fixture, the mind wanders and a few of us get a little bored.
Roll on 3pm when (some of us) will have a little more to occupy our minds.
