We go in at the break 1 - 0 to the good.
Jardine had the ball in the net just before half time, ruled out offside.

Nothing like a last minute finish. Three more points. 2 - 1 winners. Phew.

Big relief at the end and a great corner.
I was very impressed with Daventry. The injustice of our yellow compared to their red for similar “challenges” seems to spur them on and they battled very hard and almost immediately equalised.
Very impressed with the size of the crowd today and at this stage of the season the result is everything. Especially with C*v drawing!
We lacked cutting edge today but was impressed with Jallow who seemed to run the show in midfield.

Putting the game into perspective. Not a great performance against a team of spoilers, but really, who cares at this stage about the quality of a win ? I will bet not the management nor the squad. Win ugly, win dirty,it does not matter. Three more points towards the Title. Toodle Pip.
Little by little.

Certainly not one of our better performances this season . My own opinion is that we were fortunate to get the three points as ,on the day ,we were certainly no better than the opposition. In the end though its points that matter and the three gained pushes us closer to the title.Any casual supporters in attendance yesterday may think twice before coming again.

Jallow gave the ball away on numerous occasions today.
Jones passes are firm and to the feet on the deck, much more effective on this surface,

Both players gave the ball away today. Jones more so first half. Jallow more so second. Not alone in that though, were they? Quite a few were not 100% on it today. I was near the home dugout and the Management team were a little exasperated at times.
But overall, good enough to grind out another three points, so I went home happy.

Yes I quite liked his performance today. Calm and measured although he seemed understandably to tire towards the end.
And as for Hendrie...on fire at the moment!

Struggled today against another average mid table side who should of taken all 3 points ( they had there chances ).
We miss a centre back enormously... when Brown or McGrath plays everything goes through them allowing Carsley to push forward and put balls into the box, that didnt happen in the first half.
First half we looked out of shape and all over the place...... we need a proper centre back desperately.
As it was Daventry would and should feel extremely unlucky today to not get anything out of the game ...

Hard work but 3 more points
Views: 600
Do I feel sorry for Daventry? Not really, no. Had they not wasted quite so much time later on they'd have won a point. And if they had expended as much adrenalin and effort into finishing as they did into rolling about or surrounding the referee they might even have snatched a win.
As it was, we seemed a bit off at times and some of the passing second half was a bit erratic, but we got there in the end. Yes a late winner is always satisfying
The sign of proper champions is winning when not playing that well.

Could not agree more what bunch of wingers and time wasters think they have been watching Arsenal, the goalkeeper should of been booked and surrounding the referee not on,should of booked a few more when they were grabbing him, really made hard work of it against 10 men should of buried them but a win is a win how many points do we need now ? Atherstone beat Leicester Nirvana 6-0, Coventry deawed 1-1 and March won 3-1.

Not a good performance , seemed to me that for the first time the weight of where we are in the table looked a burden .
The bonus was we still found a way to get the three points and the extra bonus Cov Utd were held to a draw by Godmanchester .
Seven points needed from six games but with our goal difference probably only need six .

602: Better Attendance?
Beduff very busy . Could not park in ground, in Civic Hall Car Parks or Leisure Centre ones. Ended up in a nearby club where I am a member.
Will be interesting next season when we draw Cov in the third round of the FA Cup.
( Are we allowed in the FA Cup next season?)

I park on leisure centre usually. Was told by one of the staff yesterday the old LC will close on Mon and will be boarded up with no access to the car park. The new Fitness Hub or whatever its called opens on Tue and its entrance is a lot further down the road.

If I can get to The Oval in time, I park behind the goals. I used to try to use the old LC car park but the stumble up (and back down) the hill in the dark was a bit dodgy for an old 'un like me. I preferred the flatter (and much more expensive) stumble from the three Civic Hall car parks to the ground. All of which were full yesterday.
I was able to use a club car park yesterday where I am a member. There are such three clubs within walking distance of The Oval. All of which have car parks. If the crowds increase again next season they could make a mint out of allowing parking for a reasonable fee.

Problem with getting early to the oval car park behing goal there are some kids matches on, so parents using most of the spaces. Yesterday the standard of parking was terrible, most of the cars taking up two spaces.
