Sacking

By Stockingford Lad5/4 18:25Sun Apr 5 18:25:47 2026

How can some people want them sacked what they have done from nothing as been great yes the last few games have been poor to watch as we have been used to good football being played, they know players who will come next season from higher leagues who wants to play for the club ,yes I could not understand yesterday playing hoof ball in that wind but their second goal was offside in the build up and we did have a goal the linesman could not keep up with play that was the problem,2nd half they made the changes and we were all over them just could not score so come on get behind the lads all of them and we will get promoted.

Indeed you are - just the same as Snappycroc and I (and many others) are of the opinion that you need to give your head a wobble. I note, by the way, that you didn't reply to my question in another thread: would you warn any incoming manager that losing 5 games over a full season would be sacking form?

It’s not about losing 5 games. It’s about throwing away a 20 point lead. Thats if we do. It looking like we’re going to lose again today because of the defence again. The defence as been poor for a while now and it’s not been sorted out

Dropped 12 points in 5 games Adders 15points in 5 games that’s how you lose a 22 point lead.

It's all down to perception. If we had lost our first 5 games, then gone on a winning streak to finish second in the league, most would have said it was a succesful season. Do it in reverse and someone is demanding the management should be sacked - but the end result of both scenarios is exactly the same!

Go on a winning run to come 2nd, you go into the playoffs full of confidence

Throw this away (which I still don’t think will happen) and you end up in the playoffs with your confidence absolutely shot!

Totally different

You are right. We have not scored a goal in three games now. If Atherstone do overhaul us then our current form is well below the teams we would most likely face. This does not bode well for for our chances at all.

You are correct, of course. But look at it from another point of view: if we had been offered second place before the season started, would you have taken it and called it a successful season?

Absolutely.

BUT, I won’t be judging the management at all (other than as I said to Acco last week, job well done) until we are at step 4 where I believe our budget will be more comparative to more clubs.

I’m not remotely suggesting we are overspending, we just have the resources to be more than competitive at step 5 due to the money we bring in. We stick to the budget, but it’ll dwarf most others at this level.

Next season, IF we go up, is where the real test and competitiveness should come.

Yes I’d taken second at start of the season of course. However we’ve had a massive lead and been top of the table. If we throw that away itll be embarrassing

Yep - if that happens it will be a little embarrassing. It will still, however, have been a successful season.

What you seem to be saying is that if we lose out on top spot, the managers should be sacked for achieving a position that you would have called successful at the start of the season. Do you see how that could be seen as a bit silly?

Understand I’m the odd one out but we didn’t have a massive lead at the start of the season. To lose that no matter if we’ve only been going for 2 season is poor.

The problem with the second goal is the two players in offside positions but they didn’t receive the. All so not offside.Lewis Collins was the difference between the two sides.

Decent post that, SL.

Whatever happens over the next seven days we ALL need to stick together. Doddsy and Acco put that team together, backed by the best management and organisation we've had in years.

Last time I went into Cov to see Boro play, we were the "home" team. Most of us already knew the writing was on the wall and our days were numbered.

Tomorrow three generations of our family will be there again and it's nothing short of miraculous given our recent history. Our first away game there since the days of Coventry Sporting. (Remember that one?) We stand together . Fans, Management, players. If we manage promotion-god bless 'em all. If we don't-we regroup and go again.

Onwards and Upwards.
