Time to be confident

We have just lost to the two form teams in the League. Both sides have good strikers. We should be able to beat Northampton Sileby and job done. We are capable of doing this come on Town. It’s all about confidence

Even though we're in a slump, I'm confident we'll beat Northampton Sileby easily.
They are 4th from bottom and a poor side.
A nice fixture to get last game and wrap up the title. 👍🏆

I didn’t attend yesterday so can’t comment on performances, but I can see that the ambition of another promotion is a burning issue for many. In my honest opinion, there should be a bit more thought about it. What does the club/fans want most ? An expensive leg up the pyramid ladder or a return to Nuneaton ? Both cannot be paid for from our present wallet. Let’s just go carefully here and have a good think the day after a disappointing result. The next step up will not be financed by gates of 550 paying a tenner.
Little by little.

I see no reason, with prudent management, that an average gate of 550 would not sustain the club at Step 4. The average gate in the Northern League Midland Division this season is 289, and only three clubs have topped 400, which I believe is the figure the club is likely to budget for if promotion is achieved.

Absolutely spot on
Even at step 4, even with ring fencing some income for back to Nuneaton, we’d still be one of the bigger clubs at that level with decent resources with a 400 budget

a bit of perspective
Views: 558
if we attain step four status , this would of been achieved on turnover of £330k in two seasons
next season we will be competing with CLUBS with turnover in excess of £1.3M
thats the reality of it but where we see ourselves eventually

Which clubs at step 4 have that level of turnover? And how much profit are they actually making?

Astonishing numbers I agree. 1.3m equates roughly to 25k a week, all year.
It would be interesting to know how much income we actually lose from being tenants.

Appreciate people are trying to put the best gloss on things but it will set the Club back if we don’t go up. There is so much momentum and goodwill. An average crowd is 600 is fantastic and the last two games have shown the appetite.
But in terms of keeping people coming and season ticket sales I think step 4 is a lot safer. Some of the clubs we have played this season are tiny,
I have every faith we will still go up. I can’t see any benefit of staying at this level.

Paid football is marketed as "entertainment." We've seen our previous clubs die through lack of it and no business acumen from previous owners.
I gave up attending before the last meltdown. The season when I think we won twice? at home was just not worth the effort.
Curiosity and then entertainment lured me back via The Oval.
Yesterday and Saturday weren't entertaining. (Hoofball rarely is).

The real issue that Town's supporters need to appreciate is the length of time & the amount of fund-raising that will be needed to return the Club to Nuneaton.
The pressure on the Club's 'Back to Nuneaton' Fund will ramp up considerably in the coming months due to Planning demands, which have to be met to make a return home possible.

absolutely "THIS"
probably the most accurate and thoughtful post on here ive read for some considerable time
common sense / realism will at some point have to kick in.
if the club do go up that brick wall gets even closer
that is when the real challenge begins, (so many obvious major issues to address)
cant fault the sheer effort and hard work that has transpired to date.
hence i wish all involved the VERY BEST of luck... it will be needed for sure.
have i got the answers ?? in one short word NO.
and yes i know ive finally threw the towel in after supporting the club since 1952/3
its called LIFE.
UTB.
pps. to add do i still support the club financially ? yes.
via the 200 club
would i be prepared to up that if asked ? yes.

So what you are saying is that it is in the clubs interest to stay at this level until we have moved back to Nuneaton on our own ground? If that is the case then the club might just as well fold now. Because, if we do not want to be competitive and just maintain the status quo, we may as well ,as supporters , go and watch park football.

The Town will be playing at the Oval for at least another 3 years.
I would suggest that they should be planning for a 10-year stay at the Oval, with any improvement on that being a real bonus.
To being playing at Level 9/Step 5 during that time, would IMO be very damaging to the Club's ambitions.
Again, IMO, playing at Level 8/Step 4 during that time should serve to keep the supporters interested & maintain the attendance numbers, while the return to Nuneaton is progressed.
Just my thoughts!

I don't think that remaining at Level 9/Step 5 for any length of time would be a financially viable option for very long?

League two
National league (conference)
National League (conference north)
Southern/northern premier
Northern premier division 1 midlands (step 4/tier 8)

A stay at Level 8/Step 4 for a period of time while the Club progresses their return home, would add stability & also allow enough preparation time for what happens after the return home.
The Oval is a good venue for playing at that level & Bedworth United FC appear to be very welcoming & so the thought of staying there for the foreseeable future should be comforting for most Town supporters.
IMO, Town should be looking to stay at the Oval for 10 years, targeting a return home after 8 years.
That will give the Town Board enough time to properly progress the funding to pay for the Planning costs & also to pay for the construction of a basic Stadium, suitable for Level 8/Step 4 football for starters, to make for a smooth transition from Bedworth back to Nuneaton.
Just my thoughts!

There must be a reason for the way we have been playing the last five or six weeks. Like many of us have said, results have plastered over the cracks in performance. I can't believe the difference from early season to the hoof ball of late. We have beaten Cov twice this season, not by hoofing it forward, but playing through them on the ground. We have the players to match the likes of Atherstone and Cov , and we have shown that we can get goals as our goal difference, compared with others ,shows. Get back to basics, as we only have the one chance left to prevent wasting all the good work we put in earlier in the season.

I have to agree there. We overran teams in the first half of the season by playing quality football on the ground and feeding quality balls to Kyle. Recently we seem to have abandoned that in favour of lumping the ball forward and chasing it.

Woeful. Again. Shameful to see players stop running, pull up and stand motionless with their arms by their sides sulking, after 55 minutes with the ball still in play.
It's the same for everyone. Form doesn't come into it. Everyone has had a long season. We are all tired. Neither Atherstone or Cov Utd are that better than we are. It is us who have changed. Not them.
Something else is happening. Lost the dressing room? Transfer talk? Some other agenda?
Farnborough, anyone?
Based on the last two games only Eesa and Hesson are worth retaining whichever league we are in next season.

It's difficult to assess whether Jardine is pulling his weight. To score, which is his main function, he needs to be in or around the area. The rest of the team then need to conspire to give him the ball. If they fail in that, he looks uninvolved. I couldn't make it today, but on Saturday I don't think he was given the ball in a potential scoring position once.

Quite a few visitors I have introduced to Boro games recently have said things like "Who is that bloke?" or "What does the tubby lad do?"

I saw very little today. Not much on Saturday.
Perhaps they've fallen out? Had a better offer? Been told their services are no longer required? Been reading a Thomas Tuchel training manual? Jones and Hesson should have started. Bringing them on late was a gift to the opposition. One of many gifts to the opposition. Sudden inexplicable switch to Hoofball is unfathomable.
The way CU scored their three goals was frankly embarrassing.
Going up in this disarray could be disastrous anyway.

(Of many) is to get this club (whichever one you support) back to where certain individuals left us at the time of the Death Plunge.
Must admit after that, it took a lot to draw me back to The Oval but I know most of the current organisers and I trusted them. The football was for (most of the time) astonishing. Also I was mightily encouraged by the Old Faces also returning. So it wasn't just me, then.

Out of interest, I’ve been looking at how last season’s promoted teams have got on in the three NPL Regional Divisions this season. Of the 12 promoted teams, Redcar (already promoted) and Bury are top of their divisions, with Lower Breck in the playoff places. Bourne, St Neots and Blyth Town look like being relegated. Rugby Borough are close to the drop zone, as are Silsden. Shifnal, Lincoln Utd. Litchfield and Hallam are all mid-table. Lincoln, Bourne, St Neots and Rugby Borough were the promoted teams from the United Counties League last season. This indicates how difficult next season might be without significant additions to the squad. Incidentally, none of the sides likely to drop down from the Premier Div are midlands based. (You can tell it’s been a wet afternoon here! 😁)
