Wish list

As most posters on the forum believe, like myself, that changes need making to our team/ squad, are there any local players that you know of , or have seen that you would like to see in our colours? As I only see home games nowadays ,and am not realy up to speed on the local scene , I don't really know or recall anyone in particular.

If what I was told is true, Russ & Acco wouldn't want him even if he played for nothing.

No news yet on the players signed ( and the numbers ) but the whispers are strong.

I expect this is because contracts have not expired yet. Also as we are, rightly , sticking to a budget, we may not be such an attraction financially, to free agents. As for whispers they are about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike.

Doubt the players we will sign are on contract and even if they are contracts end at the end of the season at non league levels

Re: Wish list

That is the point I was making. Players at a higher level would tend to be on contract , so such players who are released by clubs become available once their contracts end. I doubt that signing players from lower leagues would be much better than players who we are replacing. We are not alone in wanting improvements so the financial factor comes into play. From what some posters implied , during last season , we approached one or two players but they wanted too much money.

Unless we are looking to sign players from National leagues then very few players are going to be on contract at steps 3-4, how many contracted players did we have when in the SLP!!

Very few I should think as the squad under JG was a revolving door. I am not privy to how clubs run their teams but many would protect their main assets. I was told that we have a player on contract as he is seen as our main asset player wise. If we do it then other clubs would most likely do it too. I am not suggesting it is a widespread practice at our level but as we are progressing up the leagues the players we will need are the ones that would be on contracts at clubs from higher leagues.

Not really no. We may perhaps get a name who is towards the end of their career looking to extend their time in football at a lower league.

Adam Walker might be a possibility, been released by Leamington, could see him joining us or RCW

Not realy a long term signing then. Surely we should be looking to build a team that can compete at our level and hopefully the league above.

No, nothing wrong with that at all. Wilkin did that when he had a group of young players. As we have not got a team of young players .do we really need an older head to bring them on?

They will be playing at a level a few of them have not played at so yes having an experienced player such as Walker would be a help to thos players imo

Under contract im afraid so would require a fee or an agreement between him and coalville to release him from his contract which i doubt they would do.

the wide open spaces at the butts suits him i believe , i'd like to see him when space is limited and no room in behind vs a team who have parked the bus so to speak ..
good player on his day mind you

Obviiously this player made a big impresion as he is the only one mentioned. I could not name anyone as I only saw players once in opposing us at the Oval. This seems to highlight how difficult it will be for our managers to find new recruits. Who is available, and whether we can afford the wages they ask ; it seems to be a mammoth task. I assume some players will approach the club themselves , either because they have been released , or are looking to play at a higher level.

Perfectly reasonable and innocent conjecture during a close season btw, but some killjoys will have a go at you for suggesting that!
