Suspect that means the NPL season will start 15th
It does leave us with a two weeks gap between our final friendly and the FA Cup tie so something will probably need arranging to fill that .
Mind you we will possibly be playing in the Trophy on the 15th . In fact we could be playing cup ties every Saturday in August .

Based on the last two seasons we can expect to have no interest after mid september.

I suspect most step 4 sides will have no interest by mid - September

I suspect you are right. Cup runs are great, we have had our fair share over the years, but they also can have a negative impact as they raise expectations.

Records exist to be broken
Views: 259
As our teams proved remarkably over the last two seasons. Record breaking journeys, which seem to be gradually erased from a few peoples' memories during each close season.
Never been much of an advocate of self fulfilling prophecy. Or "you get what you wish for." I prefer "you get what you play for."
Swansea. Stoke. Middlesbrough. Etc.
( Stands back and awaits input from The Oracle).

I'll always happily remember crushing many village teams, some places I will never go to again, but will also remember some sobering defeats.

Yes. Barton rovers, and chalfont St Peters bring happier memories. Highgate at home not so much.

Thought we lost at Barton Rovers? I lived in the next village to Barton Le Clay at the time and picked up VS scarf when he dropped it walking to the ground that day!

No. We won 3-2. A proper village team with a pitch in the middle of nowhere.

Won there in the FA Cup 4th qual 3-2 same season as we played Crook & Lincoln , 1700 crowd .
Did lose there 2-1 in a league game think it was during Wilkins time as manager . Might have been the last league game of season when we finished second in SLMD behind Leamington then beat Chesham & Chasetown in play offs . From memory it was a dead rubber and we didn't look too interested with bigger games coming up .

Yes it was the league game I was talking about! I remember telling Boro supporters the population of Barton was lower than Stockingford!

That was the one. Remember the special train for the Crook game. Detrained at Durham, then a fleet of double deckers to get to Crook town.

That one was a disaster. The train broke down twice, the first time before we had even got to Leicester. As you say we missed about half of the game. To cap it all, we were outplayed, and deserved to lose. Quite a few did get into the game for nothing, because the numbers overwhelmed those on the gate. Not a great day !

Drove up and sampled the local pies before getting bricked in the ground later.

Quite topical. The same can be said for the temperature records that have just been broken. It happens, yet they will always cite climate change as the reason.

Not saying it is'nt. But the record stood for 50 years. Any chance they get they always need to mention climate change.
