Alan Banks who scored the winning goal for Exeter City against Boro in an FA Cup 2nd replay at Bristol City’s Ashton Gate ground in 1967 has died at the age of 87.. The first game played on a snow covered pitch at Manor Park ended 0-0 as did Wednesday night’s replay at Exeter’s St James Park Ground. If I remember correctly the team flew down for this match. It poured with rain all through the Bristol Game. Banks scored the only goal in the 3 games. I was at that game as I expect many more of you were too.

yep remember it well.
i drove 5 of us down to ashton gate
never stopped raining
if i remember he headed the ball which stuck in the mud
the ref ran up to see that it indeed was over the line.
couldnt get to Exeter, a mate of mine flew down.
ps. Banks a prolific scorer in his day.
