The problem for last seasons players is the levels were aiming for . Most promoted teams would probably go for survival or a season of consolidation . If that was the case you could probably go with last seasons squad with a few new faces . The players we've signed would indicate we're looking to give it a go first season and so last seasons players are really struggling to compete with the new players .

If Boro go up this season to step 3 it will be our last promotion for some time. Have to have a ground lease of 10 years to join National League North South or Premier. Also would be doubts if Bedworth would be good enough without money being spent if we got a 10 year lease.

Yes, one more promotion is possible whilst playing at the Oval. There is no way that a new ground will be found for a while yet. If promotion is achieved this season, then we will have a period of just treading water. It would not be in the clubs interest to invest money on improvements to the Oval as we will need all the money we can raise for our move back into town.

I think you are right.I have supported the club for over sixty years, yet I would not want the ground built on my doorstep. The ideal site would be on an industrial estate, like Chester did, and of course Liberty Way. I don't know if the council have land set aside for any new such sites, but with the priority being housing ,I doubt they do.

MP drew me in. I was seduced by its dubious charm. Warts and all. Mostly warts.

The migration to LW was a blow and not well managed at all. However: imho it remains for the present, other than The Pingles (ugh!) the only feasible solution. By no means perfect. Not even nice. But there, and not used properly.

All the other proposals may well be fun to dream about but if they do happen it won't be in my lifetime. As for the Council...hmmm. Grayson Place and its leisure complex went well, didn't it? ( Apologies to all you Paddle enthusiasts).

The owners stated that they would not sell to the football club for a million quid. That sounds to me that we have no chance.
Even if they changed this stance, would the club be able to find the money to buy the ground?
There is a reason that we have gone cap in hand to the council.

The Nuns were relegated last season & will start the new season in the Midlands Premier Two, the sixth tier of English rugby.

They take circa three times more per match when they play in the stadium.

Most rugby clubs play in front of the club house.

It was the pitch Nuns chose and expected to play on when they bought all the land.

They only stopped playing there because of the Ian Neale shenanigans.

At the present time there is no alternative. I just think that there will not be a long term future for the club unless they find a way of getting a home into the town. Look around on matchdays, the vast majority of fans are over thirty, ie, long time fans. Playing out of town will not attract new blood to the support base. Also the club, one promotion aside, will not be able to progress any further. I quite like the Oval, and to be fair, I do not get the feeling we are unwelcome there.
To me though it still feels like an away game.

When we are at The Oval, in Blue and White, and playing there as well as we have (mostly !) over the last two seasons, with Boro' fans making a LOT of noise, it does not feel like an Away Game.

It always felt like it was Home at MP. But we lost that. Carelessly.

Liberty Way I had mixed views on. Never really felt "welcome" there. Hated the tin stands and the dangerous approach. But I don't agree that, if reconciliation ever happened, we could not make it home again.

I never went to Barwell.

I will NEVER go to Hinckley. Leicester Road or otherwise.

Of course, the dream scenario remains a new stadium in Nuneaton. Smaller clubs than us have done it. Not sure how it will happen for us though.

I don’t think the local council have ever been football keen. Even our ex MP was a Sky Blues fan. Other towns have local authorities that are more favourable to their local football team. Only time you see the Mayor is for a big game.

These are just my personal feelings, I was not a great lover of Liberty Way but it was a National League ground unlike the Oval.
The Oval is in Bedworth and the fans can sing as loud as they like it just doesn’t feel right and although the lads behind the scenes have done an incredible job along with the fantastic back to back promotions on the pitch I’m struggling with the idea that this is as far as it might go.
I have been supporting the team for 2 successful seasons yet I could easily call it a day because I am beginning to realise a move back to Nuneaton is extremely remote and my ridiculous belief that it would be 3 or 4 seasons was exactly that…ridiculous.

I know how you feel. I do not travel well now, so away games are a thing of the past for me. At the moment , travel to the Oval is not too taxing, but any longer than two or three years more will see the end of my sixty odd year support. I have posted before that I cannot realistically expect to see the club playing back in Nuneaton in my lifetime.

I suspect that you may be younger than me, So I have less time for a miracle move back than you?

Re: LW I'm afraid the dangerous road and pedestrian approach, the parking, the disrepair and the use at times of one turnstile only was far far from being a National League Ground. I saw several people hospitalised after falling on the tin terraces in the tin stands. But I hear what you say-that it had the potential to reach NL status eventually . People representing both the Football club and the Rugger Club did not want that to happen. They have had their way.

If (big big " if" ) this was as far as I thought it would go, I'd give up tomorrow. However: when I walked out of the CBS after our cup exit there-I was 100% convinced that the club would die soon after.

It didn't. It hasn't.

It is a dilemma!

The furthest that Town can go at The Oval is Level 7/Step 3 (SLPC).

Even if a joint agreement was made to merge the two Clubs, the furthest the new merged Club could go remains at Level 7/Step 3.

The key driver is that The Oval is Bedworth United's home ground & the continuous Community use of their 3G pitch is essential for their cashflow.

Back to Town now, I said from the outset that they will be playing at The Oval for at least 5 seasons but I think the supporters need to be prepared to accept that could quite easily extend to 10 seasons.

By that time Town's Board will know whether there is any genuine goodwill/intent on the part of NBBC to help the Club find a new home & return to Nuneaton.

Just my thoughts!

Edit:

The main concerns about when Town will be able to return to Nuneaton are coming mostly from the older generation.

All or most of those life-long supporters have to accept that, in all probability, they will not live long enough to see that happen.

They also need to accept that there are no guarantees in the Planning process & Planning applications are exhaustive & take as long as necessary to conclude.

The first two seasons have been a resounding success for the new Club as they have gained quick promotions from the County leagues at Steps 5 & 6.

Now they need 3 years of consolidation while the Board try to progress a return to Nuneaton.

Those 3 years will pass very quickly & a lot of patience is required from everyone associated with the Town.

What they cannot afford is a relegation.

After 5 seasons likely spent at The Oval, it will become very clear whether a return to Nuneaton is possible & affordable.

Edit:

At my age I made a conscious decision to call it a day when the Boro folded & for me that was the right decision.

That said, I want Town to be successful & I also want them to be back playing in Nuneaton.

Unfortunately that will take a lot of time & they have just started their Planning journey on a very long road.

Having higher gates is tied with success on the pitch. Even ardent fans would think twice about travelling over to Bedworth on a cold, wet day , if we are not competative, or struggling. It may come across as negative, but let's face it, how many of us felt this way during JG's tenure. We could of course decide that staying at the Oval is the best option, but any ambition will be stiffled by the the limited financial aspect of doing so.

You are 100% correct, but unfortunately a lot of people not necessarily ardent fans would prefer no club to a club playing at Bedworth. They won’t even accept a merger between Bedworth United and Nuneaton Town, which could end up the only option, although I hope not. If both clubs stay there as seperate entities in time Boro will go further up the pyramid than Bedworth and they would have to pay for ground improvements to get the ground up National League North standard. Would also need a 10 year lease. For Bedworth it is win /win and for Boro a lose/lose situation. Also some agreement would have to be reached over bar and refreshment sales of which Boro currently get Zero. That cannot continue infinitely.

No. But what other choice do we have. The new club did what they had to do just to get us playing again. It is not ideal, and playing at the oval is not only costly in terms of loss of revenue, but given one more promotion ,will also prevent any further progress on the pitch.

So should they get promoted aswell they also have the pitch .

I don't know for sure, but I think it is not just the pitch that would need improving to get the ground suitable for a higher standard than it is currently graded at . Is it realistic for us to be spending any of our limited resources to help pay for any improvements ,when we will need any funds we can raise for a possible move back to Nuneaton.

As you are involved with the club, and not just a fan, I will take your statement and give it the credit it deserves. However, you must realise that even if a site is found in the next twelve months, we will be in no position to begin the process of construction. Grants will have to be applied for to finance the building, plus the planning stage alone can, and most likely will, be a long drawn out affair. It costs the council nothing to talk, and even if something is agreed, the current lot, with the impending changes to the way the council is run, may not be in post much longer.

We all thought it was finally over, to be honest. What LH was pointing out was that having dialogue with the council should be seen as a positive step. I was just pointing out that we may not get any further forward in getting a site , as the people we are talking to may not be the ones who ultimately will be in post to make any decision.
Make of that as you will.

Hopefully we will be back in Nuneaton, but when. Council don’t seem overwhelmed with Vale View and as things stand there is no other site available. It is not looking likely that a new stadium will be ready before 2030 if then. How long can Boro continue as tenants at the Oval with very little match day income, apart from gate money and raffle and merchandise sales. Is that a viable proposition for the next 5+ years. It would be interesting to know how much Bedworth take on average on bar and refreshment sales during Boro games. They are entitled to this money as it is their ground, but it would be better in Boro Bankbalance.

I think I’m right in saying that the Boro and Bedworth have signed a new deal (can’t remember how long for) , but because we haven’t got our own ground, with our own clubhouse/ bar, over a season we are loosing thousands of pounds.

You are correct in everything you are saying.

However, you need to realise that The Oval is the long-term home of Bedworth United with a lot of history & memories, going back many years.

The Oval is set-up nicely for the Greenbacks, with a 3G pitch for Community use that is a good earner.

That's where the difficulty lies for the Town!

The new 3G pitch specification (unconfirmed by both Clubs) will prevent them from progressing beyond Level 7/Step 3 (SLPC).

The likelihood of Town returning to Nuneaton is indeed a very distant prospect at the moment.

If Town want to progress beyond Level 7/Step 3 then the only alternative locally is Hinckley Leicester Road.

Edit:

Bedworth United receiving all of the bar & refreshment takings at Town's home games is as massive bonus to the Greenbacks & realistically that commercial situation is unsustainable long-term.

Yes. Very True.

NBST told them that, when we first moved in, and tried to explain to the then Board that with a joint supporters-board capital grant funding application, using the terms of reference of the DDA Act , we could probably raise a lot of capital towards building one.

This did not compute. They just kept asking us to pay for new players and were happy with The Tent.

Correct. Grayson place is an unmitigated financial disaster. Millions spent providing a hotel for a hotel chain to lease. The town could have been given a ground for a fraction of the tax, and ratepayers money spent on a building that residents of the town either desired or needed; we live here for gods sake!
I am with you regards Manor Park. It was home. Liberty way ,never felt the same, I get the same feeling watching us at the Oval. It's where we play, but it does not feel like home.

Gala Field is the only new site that would not have the Planning hurdles/obstacles to overcome that the many other sites that have been mentioned will encounter.

WCC Highways will be a major player in the consultation process.

Edit:

Town could easily be led down the garden path by NBBC, while wasting a lot of money, unless the Board is happy to settle for a much reduced scale Community Stadium, suitable for recreational football & playing in the lower non-leagues, which excludes a return to the National leagues & any further progression beyond that ambition/aspiration.

Town's supporters need to be clear in their understanding of the Board's proposal for a new Stadium design.

FWP have designed the Main Stand to be built to National League North requirements (Level 6/Step 2) (250 seats) with the potential further expansion to National League Premier requirements (Level 5/Step 1) (500 seats).

The stadium capacity requirement for the National League North is 3,000 with covered accommodation for 500 spectators, including 250 seats.

The new floodlighting requirement for the National League North is 200 lux.

The stadium capacity require for the National League Premier is 4,000 with covered accommodation for 500 spectators, including 500 seats.

The new floodlighting requirement for the National League Premier is 250 lux.

Because floodlighting levels could be a difficult planning issue, IMO, it would be sensible to include for a floodlighting level of 250 lux in the Planning Application from the outset.

The Oval is only potentially suitable for Southern League Premier Central (Level 7/Step 3) at present, maybe after some improvements have been made?

To bring The Oval up to National League North standard would need serious financial outlay, that is assuming the new 3G pitch meets National League standards & I have my doubts!?

So, realistically The Oval would not be suitable for National League football.

The alternative venue for National League football would, IMO, be Hinckley Leicester Road.

What Town cannot do is make the same mistake as that made at Liberty Way.

They must build the Main Stand first...

Just my thoughts!

Tamworth's pitch will be a Quality PRO Performance 3G pitch.

I have asked many times on here whether the new pitch at The Oval is a Quality PRO Performance pitch or whether it is a Quality Standard Performance pitch, without getting an answer!?

A Quality Standard Performance pitch is more suitable for Community use but doesn't meet the required standard for the National leagues.

I suspect the new pitch at The Oval is a Quality Standard Performance pitch, which is only suitable up to Level 7/Step 3.

Edit:

As an aside, IMO, it makes no sense allowing National Premier clubs to play on 3G pitches, when they have to be ripped up when a Club is promoted to the EFL (eg Harrogate Town & Sutton United).

I am sure they will be outlawed in the National Premier at some stage, those Clubs need to be playing on good quality grass pitches, providing consistency of performance.

The pitch at LW (well maintained) was good enough for the EFL League Two.

surely any manager (s) go for the very best signings possible in his/their mindset
to not do so is a dereliction of your position.
IF you cant bring better players in ie. cant afford them
then that is an entirely different scenario.
hence you go with what you can afford.
