Much to learn

Muckover were cute and savvy. They just ground us down. We made a bright start, despite missing a soft penalty, but they had the hearing impaired Shrek and his brother in the dug out, which turned out to be a formidable weapon.
( Well I say "in" the dugout but actually they never went anywhere near it).
They intimidated the officials, their own players and ours, everyone really except the spectators. Their non-stop bellowing and moaning was extraordinary. The yellow card issued to one of them was richly deserved.
We showed plenty of commitment and worked hard. We played some decent stuff especially in approach work ,but our midfield crumbled a little second half as did the defence. Some of our new lads looked promising.
Work to be done . Adjustments and fine tuning to be made. Not a thrashing, nowhere near, but a sobering reminder of how tough it could be in this league. We ain't gonna run away with it this season.

+1..... apparently they were step 3 two seasons ago and you could tell.
Keeper was at Scunthorpe last season.... thats what we're going to face this season, not the little clubs we we're playing last two seasons.

alot of hoof ball again , more from Mickleover that was their tactic hoof it and chase,keep it away fropm their goal ,it works for them they were all giants i dont think i have ever seen a keeper so big, but we do nbot have to start hoof ball played right into their hands,play it along the floor and shoot along the ground their keeper was just saying thank you very much when we shot in the air, i hope the boys sort it out and we play how we can play our first goal was well worked and amazing , UTT

King Arthur is supposed to awake when England is under threat.
JGs second coming is also set in stone to occur and he will return to save the club once again.😁😂
In reality if he pays to watch then fair play but one things for sure he's got some brass neck.
There are those involved with the new club that were involved with running the last one anyway. Perhaps JG could sponsor the new club and let's face it many backed him till the end and believed he did nowt wrong.

The appearance of one of several individuals who caused quite a lot of pain in the past and got us where we are at present, is of complete indifference to me.
Not sure about your penultimate sentence, but otherwise I hear what you say. Much much MUCH happier to have the club run by fans, as it basically is now. I think most current Boro fans are.
Handing it back to anyone from the past would be madness. Won't happen imho.

Back down to earth with a bump. Overall we look a better side with the new additions. We still ,at times, look like headless chickens at the back. Two games in and five goals conceded , should be a lesson to the management that should be heeded. Good crowd tonight.

Defending was no different to the back end of last season where we were poor and the managers couldn’t sort it out. We were conceding goal after goal in the last 10 or so games. Maybe it comes down to tactics and the structure of the team

We did keep it down more second half ,and although it did not produce an end result we were better when we stuck to that. We forced more corners and had a decent spell.
There was actually LESS hoofball than the last few games at the end of last season. And there was also some twinkly footwork from Eesa and a few others. There is potential there to work on.
This in my opinion is a better way of taking on and beating brutes like those Neanderthals on the sidelines last night. Can't go toe to toe with Cro Magnon types like that and would not want to. Doddsy gets a bit agricultural at times, but he was like Einstein compared to those two.
I bet they said at half time (in words of one syllable):
" Let's get in their faces second half and bully them even more. We'll work on the officials. You throw yourselves about a bit and pretend you've had a facial injury whenever you feel contact."

This is the modern game. A managers job is to adapt his tactics to counter any threat posed by the opposition. Gamesmanship is a big part of the game today. Argentina ,in the word cup was a fine example of this.

( Not in mirroring their silky on field skills, but more in their expert intimidation and basic cheating. Sorry. I mean their tactical interpretation of the modern game).
Having supported Boo since about 1988 although Cully, Twigger and Simmo threw themselves about a bit, I honestly can't remember us being top drawer simulators. Ever.
Did you see that once Mickey Mouse were 2-1 up ,whenever the ball went out of play for a boro throw, anywhere near their dug out, the Shrek twins "accidentally" kicked it behind them or refused to retrieve it.
Winding the clock down . Brilliant. Once Messi turns fifty he could well get a game with the Shrek twins.

Their side profile on the many occasions to berate the officials (and our coaching staff) was classic pre-Cave man stuff.
As was their monosyllabic vocabulary and jaundiced view of the game. Primitives. Trolls.
Yeah yeah, fair enough, man's game etc. But sorry, to openly congratulate a player on feigning a head injury, rolling about like he been nutted after a kick on the leg , is just encouraging cheating. Belongs in Buenos Aires, Not Beduff on a Tuesday night,

To be honest it should have no place in the game at all. Unfortunately , most officials are taken in by such shenanigans, which is why teams adopt such tactics; it is a great leveller for the less skillful player.

A quick clarification from last night 👮♂️
The police offered to attend as part of their Safer Neighbourhoods initiative, and we were more than happy to take them up on the offer.
It was a positive opportunity to work together, have a presence around the ground and continue building the relationship between Nuneaton Town FC, our supporters and the local police.
And for anyone interested in volunteering in a role involving security or stewarding, please be aware that SIA licensing is required for certain security activities, so we need to make sure everything is done legally and correctly.
We’re always happy to hear from people who want to get involved. 💙⚽

As a general rule, it is the role of the Police to maintain public order outside of the Stadium. It is their public duty, free of charge to the Club.
If Police are requested by the Club, to police within the Stadium, then the Club has to pay for that service.
That is why you see Clubs, for example in the Premier League, employing & training their own Stewards.
I would not be surprised if NTFC are expected to pay for the Police being within the Oval perimeter last night?

Sir Mark Rowley is now advocating that football clubs pay for their total policing costs, including the cost of policing outside the Stadium.

A wander around is one thing, formally asking the Police to patrol within the Oval is another!

Because NTFC have now raised the Security profile for home games, IMO, they can expect this to have a knock-on effect, increasing matchday costs at the Oval.

I would expect there to be more occasions this season where segregation is required.
This will probably call for additional measures to be put in place, which will no doubt come at an extra cost to the Club.
Once either NTFC and/or BUFC are promoted to Level 7/Step 3 permanent segregation/associated facilities will have to be installed at the Stadium.

Segregation at Liberty Way was totally flexible and moved several times over several seasons to accomodate visiting fans numbers using temporary fences. Did you not go?

There was a (double) permanent segregation fence by the Away End turnstile, at the end of the Rugby Club terrace.
Yes, for the bigger games, the Boro allowed the Rugby Club terrace to be used flexibly.
Edit:
The Away End was served by its own Kiosk & Toilets, as required by the FA's Ground-Grading requirements.
It's a different situation at the Oval.

(Quite rightly. Not needed).
The only real nuisance last night was a few of the mascots, who insisted on standing instead of sitting, and climbing all over the steps. This obscured the view a little for some of the seated spectators.
A quiet word from a steward should curtail that.
Not being a killjoy btw. If one of them falls over or off the steps or the railings and onto the hard surface below that is an ambulance chasers dream scenario.
