Hendrie up front is a joke we're being totally outplayed. They should be 2 up.

Doubt there were many inside the ground who weren't baffled by the decision to play Hendrie as a one man forward line .

Got to play on the minds of the two forwards sat on the bench ..... they give Terry a penalty to get him off the mark and boost his confidence.... then put in on the bench in later games š¤·
He played Armson upfront the other week and the worst midfielder we've got upfront yesterday. If thats not a message to go and find yourself another club I dont know what is.
Be interesting to ask on post match interview..... why ?

Dodds did explain why he played him up front, (sort of) the the post match interview regarding Hendries great touch on the ball. He was a striker in his younger days.

Excellent result against a good side. The penalty and sending of changed the game in our favour as they were certainly more dominant up to that point. We certainly made the extra man count after that. However, in my opinion, taking the wingers off was a mistake, because it let them back into the game again towards the end.

Was it a mistake?
We were 3-0 up.
The wingers are very important for usā¦we play another decent side Tuesday.
Also important to get a look at the new guy and let Liam and Terry stretch their legs.

I appreciate what you are posting, but I have always been of the opinion that if you have your opponents under the cosh, then keep them there. This is a far better tactic than trying to defend a lead. Taking off our wingers took away our main threat, which enabled Loughborough to pose the sort of threat to us that they were in the first half. The way the game had unfolded meant we had pretty much got three points in the bag, and the extra ten minutes would have made little difference to our lads.
I suspect players would rather play than train ,which I am sure would be the case with our lads. Taking only one of the wingers off would have made our opponents less able to throw caution to the wind as they did towards the end.

At this level players leave when they donāt get game timeā¦
Kai Thomas and James Harrison spring to mind recently.
Keeping your key players on every minute of every game risks injury and doesnāt keep them fresh.
Showing a lack of confidence in your subs is also not good for morale or team spiritā¦

The result all hinged on the sending off. Up to that point the Students were much quicker, sharper and played some neat passing football. Boro were second best in every department and could easily have been at least two goals down before the timely penalty. Thereafter the 10 men understandably ran out of steam and eventually there was only going to be one winner. Room for significant improvement for sure but a win's a win.
A mention for the referee who I thought had a good game.

Putting it into perspective, Loughborough were matching us in fact probably just edging it until the sending off. They were (as one might expect), fit, young and enthusiastic. I liked their 5 and number 4.
Obviously the red card changed the balance. Quadruple whammy of:
1. conceding a penalty
2. losing your first choice keeper
3. going down to ten men
4. substitute keeper in goal.
Easy to criticise their keeper. He was already well beaten so if he'd just let us score and stayed on..
We'll never know. The sub keeper made a couple of decent saves to keep the score respectable.
Another professional and polished performance from Somel and Sawyers. With many other stripes also putting in a hard shift.
We couldn't...could we?

Yes-that was commented upon. A useful addition to Boro weaponry.

Blue tinted spectacles if you thought the Students were 'probably just edging it' in the first half. They were much the better team throughout the first half in my view (as per my earlier post ) and from Acton and Dodds' animated reactions from the touchline they shared that opinion too.
