Scarborough Athletic's Pitch Problems
Views: 253
Scarborough Athletic play at the Scarborough Sports Village, owned by North Yorkshire Council.
The 3G pitch carpet was due for renewal at a cost of £300k when serious subterranean problems were discovered, including a failed drainage system (surface water was being retained) & serious problems with the ground stabilisation & the substructure make-up.
The re-construction of the new 3G pitch has cost £3 million.
North Yorkshire Council has paid for the works.
As an aside, the subterranean ground conditions at Vale View could prove problematical & dealing with the nature of the existing site could involve exceptional costs, which will have to be paid for by NTFC.
That's after spending most of their 'Back to Nuneaton' budget on an extensive Site Investigation Report!
Edit:
Willmott Dixon carried out the re-construction works. They are a National Contractor with a local office in Coleshill.
It might be worth running the Vale View SI past them, if the Vale View site is the preferred choice?

I think Scarborough is a bit too far for our home games though. Unless there is any other relevance.

The relevance being that if there are similar problems with the pitch construction at Vale View, I don't think NTFC will be able to rely on NBBC to stand the cost of putting it right.
Settlement/differential settlement cannot be ruled out on that site.
It is NBBC Planning Department's responsibility to review/ensure the stability of the site, as part of the Planning Application process.

If, maybe? What if? Try living in the real world and let those with a vested interest decide .

Have you seen in the local press that there is going to be an Inquiry into the Nuneaton Regeneration Project.
The 3 parties are now squabbling amongst themselves as to who is to blame for the 'failings'.
Unfortunately that is the Council that NTFC are dealing with, it doesn't inspire confidence in their decision making!

That was covered in posts yesterday. Which still has no relevance to Scarborough or their council.
