It was a weakness in the greater scheme of things.
Now that weakness is a proper Centre Forward.

I dont get that theory....
Strengthen while your ahead, take your time on the type of player your looking for. not when your on the back foot and anything will do.
By doing that you're a more attractive prospect to any player. Not when you're in panic mode your not.

I do know what you mean exactly. A prolific goal-scoring forward will not be on the market at the moment I would suggest. We should have learned by now about splashing the cash,I want this club to continue,even if it’s slowly,and not revisit the recent dark past.

The problem is supply and demand. Regular goalscorers are in short supply, yet there is a great demand. No club will readily let one leave as it is difficult to find a replacement, as we have found ouselves. Also such players can demand higher wages which given our restrictive budget puts many of them beyond our reach.
It may be worth taking a gamble in the hope of finding another Cristie from a lower league.

Most will be on 7 days, most will give it some thought playing in a higher league, most wont be on the money we're willing to pay....

thats pretty hard to do given we having been playing saturday tuesday since august ...
but russ and darren i can assure you are working so hard right now to make it happen..
for an example have a watch of St Ives managers interview from saturday , he covers a lot of the problems clubs face albeit at the other end of the table . i actually feel for the guy , we ain't in bad shape

Most of our fans do realise how dificult it is to bring in the right recruits . All clubs face the same problem , unless they have the budgets to pay the wage demands such players seem to want.
This said, I think that we have a slight advantage over many of the other teams, in that we have ,in effect ,two managers.
Surely it would be possible for one of our guys to go on a scouting mission to assess possible recruits, leaving the other one to take charge on match days.
There must be at least fifty clubs within an hours drive of the town, some of which will have the sort of player we need.
I posted at the time , when Jardine left , that it would be very difficult to replace him. The fact is though, we managed to attract him in the first place. There will surely be others that will be willing to join that we could afford, even with our restrictive budget.

Does not seem a lot wrong as we are 3rd in the league and have scored enough goals to win matches easily. If we get to Step 3 next season what happens then? Do we still budget for unattainable promotion.

There is not much wrong with us at the moment, no.
As the thread seems to be about the perceived need for goalscoring centre forward then any posts are related to that.
If we should be lucky enough to gain another promotion then consolidation would be the most prudent course of action for the club, and team..
I know , as well as you do , that level three is our limit in our present circumstances. This does not mean we should get complacent with the way things have turned around in the last few weeks. Adding to the squad , in a given weak position, is never a bad thing to do.
There seems to be genuine concern with some of our fellow supporters, that with recent departures , we would have little or no cover should we get injuries, or suffer a loss of form.
None of the posters have implied ,or openly said, that we should increase the budget to strengthen the squad.
