White Elephants??

Can anyone tell me why no attempt was made to use the machines ,supposedly meant to clear water of the pitch today.
If this was not the ideal opportunity to give them a go, i don't know when will be.
Having waited till late to inspect the pitch i assumed we must have a good chance of getting the game on. Not so ,much to the obvious anger of our manager it was called off in no time.
O.K i guess i will be told the machines would not have saved the game, but having paid my bit towards one i would like to have seen them given a chance.
