Last night was the second worst refereeing performance I have ever witnessed. The worst was my officiating in an under 30's v Over 30's match. I have never refereed since. The referee was picking up on so many minor infringements by both sides from the start of the game. However, key decisions in the penalty area were waved as play on. This was exemplified by a blatant push on Mahrez in the second half. As for the incident which led to the equaliser in the last minute. I sit with a retired keeper, who counted three infringements on |Denzel before the ball finally went in our net. Bring on VAR. It should also be noted that the linesman forgot to interpret the offside law about "interfering with play" in some of their decisions. I am not so much upset about that as I am always mindful of Bill Shankly's comment that if you are not interfering with play, you shouldn't be on the pitch! An enjoyable match, if not result. However, after last season ........
