The Supporters Club are pleased to announce that we have nominated Steve Parsons for the Spelthorne Sports Awards under the category of Volunteer of the Year sponsored by Specsavers. Should he be successful the awards ceremony is on Tuesday 19th November at 1930hrs with the event held at Shepperton Studios. Details can be found at http://awards.activesurrey.com/award-vote/spelthorne-sports-awards-2019/specsavers-volunteer-of-the-year. Nominations close on 20th October 2019.

I am sure we all agree Steve would be a worthy winner, here is his STFC story…..

Steve is an unpaid volunteer and to all his friends is Mr Staines Town FC. Steve first attended a Staines Town game in 1972 ( a 1-1 home draw v Addlestone in the Athenian League ) and from February 1975 became a regular at Home games and from May 1975 a regular at Away games. By August 1982 he had become co-editor of the clubs programmes , and in October 1984 was elected onto the STFC committee. In July 1985 Steve was elected Assistant Secretary , and then in June 1992 was appointed Club Secretary. In 1995 Steve received a 10 year long service award from Middlesex FA. In 2000 Steve was made a trustee of STFC , and in May 2009 was made a life member of STFC. In 2010 Steve received a 25 year long service award from Middlesex FA. In 2011 , along with Stuart Moore his fellow programme co-editor, Steve received the Conference South Programme of the Year Award , and this Award was retained in 2012. To this day , Steve still produces the club programme , something that he has now done for 37 years, along with being club secretary for 27 years. Steve is also responsible for the registration of all players as well as submitting the team sheet at every game.

It is also worth mentioning that in nearly 2500 competitive 1st team games since December 1981 , Steve has only missed 3 games, quite an achievement!
Along the way Steve has also attended hundreds of youth games, reserve games, friendlies and ladies games (both Staines Town ladies and Chelsea ladies),

In our opinion , Steve Parsons thoroughly deserves to be nominated for this award and we will keep you posted on his progress.
