Two and a half

In the final five minutes of last night's game (terrific result) the referee was asked how long (I think our right back was knackered). Each time the ref replied two and a half. Just how long does two and a half take? Opps my wife has just asked if I have seen the cats bowl. I didn't know they played cricket
