Five minutes of torture

Well I never , who remembers November 22nd 2014 ? A home game against Bishop Stortford , Possibly the worse game of football I have ever witnessed however the last time we won . Since that game Staines went rapidly downhill and some amongst us believed we wouldn't win again all season .

Fast forward to January 13th 2015 , and the new manager takes charge for a very tricky home game against Gosport, This is a Gosport side who with a win last night would have been in the play off places, so no easy task .

After Last Thursday's Fans forum , The atmosphere around the Ground seemed too be lighter, a pre match meeting of the new swans supporters club was well attended and loads of good ideas were muted.

So onto the game , The first half was a cagey affair, I was surprised at the lack of intensity among the Swans players. But fair play to them for showing discipline and not conceding .
The second half was a completely different affair, high pressing and good ball retention lead to a great opening goal from Lodgey .
Gosport are a well disciplined side with some very good players and in my opinion the equalizer was coming .
Staines showed great character in continuing with the high pressing game and Lodgey bagged the winner with a well taken bullet strike.

The last five minutes were complete torture , Gosport hit the bar , any other week this season that would have flown in the top corner, maybe our luck was turning. The Gosport Goalkeeper turned the last couple of minutes into a 12 v 11 outfield player match. a couple of corners a world class save from Jack and that was it .....

Lets not kid ourselves , Nicky Forster has a mammoth task in front of him , however with this win we have something to build on .
