Seems Dixons long term plan was to milk the club for what he could, probably not having done his homework on the existing covenant in place regarding its use. Once he realised he wouldnt be able to get anything out of any redevelopment, he just did everything he could to bring the club to its knees and destroy any remaining small goodwill that could have been restored between the club and the Thames Club. The true demise really started though, when Sheffield United sold the lease onto the Thames Club, it was indeed a long, slow demise from there.
