Bund under an IBC, is it actually required or just good practice?
We've just taken on a small unit in Al Quoz and there are a couple of IBCs of cleaning chemicals sitting in the corner left behind by the previous tenant. I hadn't really thought about it until a client's HSE guy came for a visit and asked where the containment was. Now I'm trying to work out whether a bund is actually a legal requirement here or just something they'd like to see, and how much of a job it is to sort properly. I came across https://www.crateco.ae/blogs/uae-chemical-storage-ibc-tanks-spill-containment while trying to understand the basics, and it did explain the reasoning behind containment better than the vague answers I'd been getting from suppliers, but I'd rather hear from people who've actually dealt with this in practice. Has anyone here been pulled up on missing containment during an inspection or an audit, and what did it take to get it right? I'd rather sort it before something happens than after.
