Is a pressure balancing valve actually worth adding during a bathroom remodel?
We're redoing our bathroom and the plumber suggested a few upgrades while the walls are open, including a pressure balancing valve and a thermostatic mixer. I nodded along but honestly I'm not sure if these are genuine improvements or just extras he likes fitting. I found https://kitchenbathpaloalto.com/top-plumbing-upgrades-to-consider-in-your-remodel/ while trying to work out what's actually worth paying for, and it explained the difference between the two options, which was more than I got from the plumber, but I'd rather hear from people who've lived with them. Has anyone here added a pressure balancing valve and found it made a real difference to showers when someone flushes a toilet? And is a thermostatic mixer worth the extra cost, or is it a nice to have that you stop noticing after a month?
