Never thought i would see the day that Paul Fleckney(the man of many talents) ran the line at a Staines Town game.
Yes,THE Paul Fleckney, the world famous Staines Town supporter stepped into the breach when one of the linesman failed to show up.

Rumour has it that Paul had given him directions to the ground but sadly there is no truth in that rumour.

Paul did an admirable job in difficult circumstances(was that heckling i heard from a section of the Swans supporters?)although as an unqualified official he was not allowed to give offsides or penaltys.
Still in the circumstances he did a wonderful job,and it can only be a matter of time before he is officiating at Wembley.LOL.
On a serious note, well done to Paul for volunteering for the job.
A round of applause please.

Endorse your views on Paul stepping up to fill the void.. On him not being able to give off sides etc. its a shame the ref didn't inform the Hendon players of this, poor old Paul was getting pelters for not giving off sides..

Hope the spelling meets the rooms high standards !

Well done to Paul on stepping in. I'd been asked before the appeal went out, and am qualified, all be it having only reffed in parks football - but am in no fit state to do so.

Agree the ref should have communicated to the players what he was allowing Paul to give.

Been in that situation myself, as I stepped in when a referee didn't turn up for a League Cup tie against Boreham Wood at Claremont Road a few years ago. Both managers and the other two officials (one of the assistants stepped up to referee the game) agreed that I should awarded everything. Was an interesting experience, especially as the first thing I had to do was award us a penalty!

Was good to visit Wheatsheaf Lane again, pitch was looking in excellent condition, if understandably a little greasy after the first half downpour.

Wish you all every success for the season ahead.

Great photo of Paul on the match photos from AKD Photography.
Photo 82 shows Paul concentrating hard on how he can have a shower after the game when he forgot to bring his towel. LOL.
