Today's game
Views: 2791
The two subs salvaged a replay for us today, outstanding performance from young Danny and a goal for Bas. The first half we looked defeated even before they scored. Second half we deserved the equaliser and could have snatched a winner. Something to build on hopefully.

Lawrence got it right, two subs salvaged a point. Apart from that we were absolutely woeful. Defence was better than previous weeks which was a positive. Midfield was non existent, no creativity, what was max doing in the first half? Lodgy runs and makes breaks but no productivity or final ball, is stefan that bad or is it the rest of the team making him look bad?
Upfront, well theo shoots when he whats, from where he wants just giving away possession from poor attempts on goal. Buchanan, didn't see him do anything? Callum, wasted upfront. The sun beaming in his eyes, couldn't see the ball but we just kept lumping it up top. Really? Don't we learn from the moment it doesn't work out, but no we persist lumping it up top.
To the bench... Bassat ran his socks off, should start ahead of others. Pash, very good player, gets goals, but still don't think he is good enough to start a game yet. And apart from aribo who we have seen who are the rest? It isn't good enough for this level.
Where is the support? Where are loan players?
I was 5 minutes late today, on my way down saw ekim and chase sitting outside a shop just up from the ground. Why are they not supporting the team? Injured or not they should be at the ground supporting the team, it's not like we're flying high and getting results!!!!!!!
The team is too small, not physical enough and still cannot win headers.
We need new players!!!!!
Too many disillusioned people at Staines, were currently not good enough.

you may have been 5 minutes late Dom, but had you been 30 mins early or maybe an hour early, you would have seen the 2 players you mentioned working very hard, supporting the team yes and also the under 11's who provided the guard of honour for todays game, of course being late, you didn't see that, so it was very easy for you to see what you saw and jump to your own conclusions.......you were wrong.
the players mentioned were at the ground, early, and doing their bit!!!!
so where was all the support for the team that every one shouted about on this forum before todays match? the singing and all, easy to moan about players, but the vocal support didn't show up and get behind the team ......pussies!!!!

Not being funny but you clearly knew what you was saying! You just didn't expect anyone to pipe up, we don't all hide behind a keyboard! (sorry Troy, Nancy) - look forward to your face to face apology!
Just to clarify I was up for the game until I saw a shoddy support, shoddy bench and when only 6 people stood over by the stand, the noise we created would have been embarrassing!
Then to top things off, 20 minutes in - we looked dreadful! The only motivation I had the was the fact I wanted sweats at half time! Otherwise I'd have gone home!

Steve, who do you think you are calling people pussies?
I for one lost all motivation when I saw the squad! But to be called a pussy is just uncalled for.....
Rather than saying stuff behind a keyboard, next time I'm at the ground happy for you to say it to my face!

The away support put home support to shame with their singing etc.
Good turnout by Gloucester who thoroughly deserved the replay.
Lets hope we can pull off a win in the replay and get a plum 4th Qualifying Round tie

The home support is not allowed to sing or make any noise as it is against ground rules and upsets the trolls that come on this forum and don't forget they get a full page apology from the club!

I thing 'VW Swan' is wrong. In my view there are about four or five people who would like to see a return to the abusive shouting; and about three hundred people who are (due to the club's brave response) now able to enjoy the game as they could not before.
It's wonderful to see some families with children returning to Wheatsheaf Park now that the club has successfully stood up to the handful of troublemakers.

Very funny Troy, if you have seen trouble makers at Staines then I am amazed. You might also note that the crowds are down this season so not sure who all these returning fans are?

Andrew, you are only a loyal fan if you attend Chelsea ladies games, you should know that. I will be interested to see how many Chelsea ladies fans I see at Cheltenham on Tuesday night - Troy are you making the visit as would be delighted to share a soft drink with you.

VW Swan - I'm so sorry you feel that way, but I do believe you are in a very small minority.
I'm not sure if I'm going to the replay. I'm in London on Tuesday and I'm not sure if I'll get away on time - but I'm trying to rearrange my day so that I can make it.

Excellent I look forward to it. I would point out that the club awards a fan of the year award and for the last two years it has gone to people at which you are pointing fingers? So are the club wrong? Also the club has not asked anyone to move from the stand, we have taken that decision ourselves. I would be pleased to meet you so you can realise these are all good people and certainly not trouble makers or aggressive folks. Just genuine fans.

'VW Swan' - I think we go around in circles on this issue, and we may need to simply agree to disagree.
I, and I suspect those who agree with me, would never wish to quash enthusiastic support. As you and I have discussed before - my disagreement with you (and the one or two others) is on the barracking of injured opposition players, and the extreme swear words that used to be a feature of coming to Wheatsheaf Park.
I don't expect you to agree with me, but I am entitled to express a view. It doesn't make one a troll, simply because one has a different opinion to the four or five of you who hold a different view to me.

Yes we will have to agree to disagree - just a quick question are you a politician as you appear to never answer a question sent to you? Look forward to meeting you on Tuesday as it's always better to know who you are talking to rather than the anonymity of a keyboard.

I was just being circumspect in not answering the questions in your previous post, because I need to ask a further question to understand.
That question was - who votes for the 'fan of the year'?
(But I fear we will get into another disagreement on this topic!).
I do hope to get to the replay, but it's very much in the balance. It will depend on how my day runs and the traffic reports and so on. So it's far from guaranteed I will be there. By the way, for the first seventy five minutes yesterday, I didn't even dare hope for a reply, I thought we played so badly! So... I suppose we have to feel relieved to get the draw.
I think it would be far more sensible at this stage of the competition ( and considering costs) if extra time was played in games that remain level after 90 minutes.

Personally I think we stand no chance at all on Tuesday because we just do not have the spirit or pride anymore . The whole game you could see the passion and effort the opposition showed and again as I said last week their manager was up and shouting and spuring his team on ... Marcus did stand up for 5 minutes but I think he pulled up and needed medical treatment for cramp . All in all it was a good result for Staines .. It's funny going on Gloucesters forum and all their comments refer to how poor we are .. They're not worried this Tuesday and to be honest I don't blame them . However lets remain positive and hopefully we will get a result. O and Troy can you let the 22 players on the pitch not to swear please I get offended and i can see it causes distress for my fellow Staines Town supporters .

But hang on Troy that shouldn't matter .. Any football game you go to lower league or higher you hear swearing from fans and players ... People bring their kids knowing there will be swearing ... Get over it ... Furthermore if u have to send players off for swearing then maybe that's what the officials have to do ...

Troy, the committee vote for fan of the year so it is the people who run the club, the same committee that have NOT asked anyone to move out of the stand.
Yesterday, like many games this season we have been poor. A draw didn't look likely until the introduction of the youngsters from the bench. There does not seem to be much of a team spirit, only a few look like they care. Still on to Tuesday and hoping for a result and a cup run.

Whilst on the subject of fans, I noticed Hampton managed to pull in over 800 yesterday for a Ryman game. Only goes to highlight how poor we are at getting people through the gate and being in a higher league we really should be getting better support. The club are not doing enough to address this situation and we will continue to lose support until they do.

Laurence you need to realise the facts and I'm sorry if I offend anyone but this is MY opinion ... Marcus does not care .. The board do not care and if I'm honest I get the impression they would like to see us relegated ... Instead of pumping money in to a sailing ship they'd rather leave it to sink ... They would do better by the club to sell up and let someone who is interested in the team and has the money to pump into the club and get it up the table fighting for promotion like every fan wants to see .. Nothing will change we are watching the same garbage week in week out and the players don't care , they get their wages and bugger off and turn up on the weekend to attempt to play football when we all know none of them with a few exceptions I suppose want to be there thus meaning a pathetic effort ... Rant over
