Wealdstone Away

Sometimes sport leaves you speechless , Today I witnessed the worse performance by a referee in my 40 odd years as a sporting spectator
I cant comment on the first sending off , it happened to far away from me,it seemed someone threw the ball away etc etc and the ref sent off Chris . What happened after that for Marcus to get sent off I wont comment on as the repercussions could be huge . if the allegations are true then the ref should face the maximum penalty .
The second off was pure comedy and will surely be rescinded.
All in All this referee was a complete embarrassment and that's not coming from a bitter football fan whose team lost a crucial game .
The game was pretty much a poor affair in truth I thought we deserved a point at the end ..

Yes the ref was rubbish and yes he did make a big contribution to Staines's defeat, but leave him aside for a moment. I would say that Staines only really looked good after they went down to 9 men. They played with passion and purpose then. The trouble is that for the first 75 minutes they didn't, whereas Wealdstone, who football wise were certainly no better than Staines, played as if they knew that a win was vital.
Pashaj should have scored twice, once in the first half when he blazed into row Z and once when in the second when he shot wide. Those misses proved costly.
The season is coming up to half way through and if Staines are to escape the drop they need to get out of the "we nearly did it" mindset and actually do it. Charles and Bassett could form a good partnership up front and the midfield is doing OK ( especially Lodge), but the defence will be the ruin of everything unless it gets its act together. Yesterday's goal just should not have happened.
There is still time though. 6 points is a lot to make up but certainly not impossible.

I agree to a certain extent of your comments, however I thought Staines were definitely the best side in the second half, Wealdstone were so deep from the KO in the second half they never looked like they wanted to get another goal were more then happy to see the 1-0 win, I was stood in between all the Wealdstone fans and for the whole second half were scared stiff every time Staines went forward and did nothing but criticise the team, not the best support bearing in the numbers they had, one guy spent the whole half slagging off Turner (the Wealdstone one) then when he was substituted shouted out well played Joe great game !!!!! Anyway I saw a lot of positives yesterday and providing they start taking their chances then I think they will be ok, just !
I do think Charles and Rose have the better makings of forward pair and would like to see them given a run of 5-6 games together and see what happens, always bring on Bassett with 15-20 to go to tear teams apart with his raw pace.

One thing I forgot to mention was that I have been involved in football for 46 years now in all capacities and have to say the referee was the worse I have seen in terms of someone losing it and totally out of his depth, but I am sure that all three officials and the assessor will have the same story and nothing will be done, as always where referee's are concerned.
