What now?

A bad result tonight. We need to thank the fans who went and special thanks for those of us watching the twitter feed. I would like to thank the Chairman for breaking his silence. Although we may not agree with what he said (I can't say I agree with it all) the way forward is not to analyse the words, it is to ensure that the lines of communication are kept open, both ways, so that the Chairman knows we are appreciative of his investment in our club and we will continue to follow. With the influx of the new players, the manager needs to get his squad settled and to try and get our best side out on a regular basis. The reality is that we need to pick up enough points to keep us in this division and avoid a double relegation. Next season we need a stable squad that can compete in this league without the fears of a relegation battle and potentially finish (at best) in.a play off place. Realistically we should be looking for a definite promotion the following season. From there on the investment and future of the club depends on dual sources of finance; that of the Chairman, but more from sponsorship and through the gate, alongside supporters giving. Sponsorship levels will increase, probably, with success on the pitch. Right now we all need to get behind the team and the manager; we need to bring along our friends and family to increase gate takings - and to go forward in the hope that the future will be brighter. Let us all keep the hope. COYS

To our Supporters – Chairman’s Update

Having just returned from some time abroad I wanted to reach out to you all to thank you for your continued support. I know times haven’t been easy, but your support has never waned, and I really appreciate this. Please continue to get behind Martin Kuhl and the team for rest of the season.

As I previously communicated to you in my programme notes in the Chertsey Town fixture before Christmas, Martin is a highly decorated coach with Premier League and Championship experience and has the full backing of the club’s ownership group and support staff. The team is in a period of transition and Martin is working extremely hard on implementing his ideas and philosophies into a new group of players as well as on the recruitment side in conjunction with Peter Stanford. We believe that with time this will begin to pay dividends.

I am aware that there have been some questions amongst fans regarding the departure of Mahrez Bettache. As I mentioned previously Mahrez was only ever in an interim position, he was not sacked and was asked to stay on at the club as an assistant to Martin. Mahrez declined our offer but is still highly regarded by the club, we just felt that the opportunity to take someone of Martin’s stature and experience was a move that will benefit us in the long term and that we needed to act while Martin was still available.

At the time of writing there is still very little I can say about the issues that have created the problems that the club are continuing to endure. They are problems that have been underlying for a very long period of time, long before we arrived at the club, but we are working very hard and committing a lot of resources to get this resolved. As soon as I can update you on this I will.

I would like to thank the core group of fans and the supporters club for their continued support and contributions. This does not go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated.

We are continuing to work very hard to bring the football club into a position of long- term stability and back to a position where it belongs.

COYS

Joe Dixon

This was also in Saturdays programme. However, even though we may not agree with some of the points made, that is irrelevant. I have been, and still am, critical of some of the Chairman's decisions, he has done his bit by starting to communicate with the supporters. For the club to progress this communication is vital. The supporters need to understand that the manager has been given a number of new players (11 according to the league website). It is up to the manager to get the best out of those players, for the Chairman to ensure that those players remain with us, and for the supporters to get behind those players to try and ensure league survival. Let's leave criticisms till after the season is over - them hopefully we can look forward to a better season next year.

To summarise,

I've been away.
We got a new manager who I think will do well but got rid of a bloke who was actually doing well.
We've signed a shed load of players who I hope will do well.
We've got some off the field issues that I can't really tell you about.
Please stick with us.

What's he telling you that you don't already know?

I agree with this comment. The Chairman has not only replied (and the response may well not be the best, but that isn't relevant to the issue at present), he has given the manager funds to look at a number of new players. This should be recognised and we need to get behind the team to ensure we maintain our present league status.

Really do hope that this is a watershed for the club and Chairman and settled manager can start to build the club back up.
