Wheatsheaf Park

When Alan (Boon) did the original ‘deal’ on the development of Wheatsheaf Park he was always adamant that he had secured the future of Staines Town FC at Wheatsheaf Lane by way of a Section 106 agreement with Spelthorne Borough Council when planning permission was granted. In this agreement, I’ve provided a link, it states that the football pitch at Wheatsheaf Park can only be used by Staines Town FC or any other party that STFC grants permission to. (Para 5.7).
I’m no legal beagle but I do wonder, if this covenant remains in place, if it can still be enforced and particularly, if Staines Town FC ceases to exist due to the current ‘owners’ recent displays of lunacy, how this might affect any phoenix club?

Crikey, I caught a glimpse of the 'pitch' this morning from the Thames Club and it's a very sad sight. Grass up to knee level and a half collapsed goal post really does paint a picture of complete abandonment. I'm not sure if the Thames Club will intervene with the pitch in some form because it's rapidly becoming a bit of an eyesore in terms of giving the whole facility a bit of a 'run down' feel.

Understand your frustrations ,however,

Reality is that the re-wilding of Wheatsheaf Park is very much on trend and with the eye being drawn to the decaying goal structures the whole must be viewed as an art installation with a very strong message

"How the follies of an individual can destroy the hard work and dedication of thousands of man and women over more than a centuary"

Landform sculptures have grown in popularity over the last decade -thinking of Northhumberlandia :Lady of the North and Charles Jencks in Edinburgh. The Wheatsheaf will soon be of similar national importance.

Please look out the gym with pride and remember that you may have been the first to bring this newly created urban art to the nations attention.

Sounds absolutely tragic. I think back to the hours and hours that were spent making that pitch the best in non-league football and all by volunteers....Gouldy, Jonesy, Jesse and yes me and Pete. If Stfc are to play at Wheatsheaf park again, answer please, then let's get the pitch sorted. I'm up for it, anybody else?

I believe the owner of Staines Town FC is responsible for the upkeep of the pitch. It is part of his obligation under the lease he has. He has said football will continue. I am not sure what as the previous thread was trying to contact him about league registration. It is a case of "Where's Joe"

Wakes

Sorry I'm clearly no IT guru either!! The url is correct but you're right the link doesn't appear to work. I'll have a think and see what I can do. The document can be accessed via the Spelthorne Borough Council website. 'Find planning applications' ref no: is 01/00018/FUL and it is the second legal agreement in the docs tab. Alternatively if someone can tell me how to link a PDF to a post then I'll do it.

Try this:-
https://my.spelthorne.gov.uk/planningpublisher.aspx?requesttype=parsetemplate&template=DCApplication.tmplt&basepage=planningpublisher.aspx&Filter=^REFVAL^=%2701/00018/FUL%27&history=8e23a60a4d724da6b66a211371c635d3

Go to the Documents Tab and then view the Legal Agreement

Yes that’s better can read it now. Under covenants 5.7 states only Staines Town FC can play here and only others if granted permission by STFC.

On page 1 is says grant conditional, also my brother has just managed to get a similar status of land reversed.

Also it would only take a few residents objections or brown envelopes, for that to be torn up. Probably a lot quicker than it was granted :)
