Holland & Blair 1 Leafe 1

It was quite a difficult afternoon all round and I left happy with the draw and the opportunity to finish things off (absolutely not to be taken for granted) on Tuesday evening at Church Road.

The officialdom was atrocious, the Lino in the first half denying us a clear cut goal for "offside" and the Ref bottling two penalty decisions, firstly for a trip on Roscoe and then Roscoe again having his shirt pulled back by the last man. Mr Wonder adjudged the pull was literally on the 18-yard line and gave no card.

The Lino did indeed seem to confuse his role with that of defensive coach. All very odd.

The real issue in the first half was off the pitch though. Oh no, it's "Busy Dad", a charmless nerk whose precious son was beyond any banter or criticism, spoiling for a fight as he edged ever closer to the travelling support, clearly itching to launch his unspent aggression on a group of fans who had travelled and paid to support their team with the usual banter, humour and song.

Anyway, 1-0 down at half-time Leafe stepped it up after the break and dominated the second half, getting back on terms when Roscoe fired home on the hour.

We also had the space to celebrate and enjoy our afternoon, whilst Mr Angry and his henchmen still ranted at everyone and everything from the sideline.

Both sides had the chance to take the win, Leafe denied by a tremendous tip-over by their excellent young keeper. The H&B number 5 and captain, a huge centre-half cast in the Colin Hendry mould, was also outstanding all afternoon.

A replay at Church Road this Tuesday evening, 7.45 KO it is then.

It should be a cracker but please, Busy Dad, leave that ridiculous off-field aggression and malice back beside the Medway and enjoy the game and atmosphere, whatever the outcome.
