Leafe 3 Chipstead 0

A fine team performance, with some cracking goals was the perfect Christmas present for the Leafe, in front of a pleasing crowd of 234.

I am no great fan of the Surrey Senior Cup, but putting 5 goals past Colliers Wood seems to have been a real turning point with the team suddenly finding belief and confidence after a dismal run of league defeats against bottom six clubs.

Daniel Ajakaiye's pace means a buzz when he gets the ball and he was pivotal yesterday. Firstly he burst into the box and saw his left-foot shot blocked, the rebound falling to evergreen Sam Clayton who curled his shot into the top corner.

The second goal was sheer class, Ajakaiye again bursting forward, past two defenders and slotting home from a tight angle, finding a very small gap between keeper and post.

It really was a team victory this one, but I would give Man of the Match to Bentley Graham whose new-found fitness and appetite for football produced a tireless all action display in midfield.

Big games now against Tooting & Mitcham and Walton Casuals and on this form we should fear no-one.
