Leafe 1 Merstham 5

Despite a propensity to dive, wait for the inevitable card and then bounce back up, you have to say Merstham outclassed us here again and no complaints on the scoreline.

Better news: Worthing lost

Promising fact: Our next 3 games are against bottom six clubs, although take nothing for granted, and 7-9 points are feasible.

Cheer up, move on, let Burgess Hill worry about Merstham - and the certainly should.

Congratulations to a very strong Merstham team.

Strong physically, comfortable in possession, good movement. But they played football simply but exceptionally well
Couldn't see too many weaknesses.

Hopefully a lesson for us to aim for. No disgrace in defeat.

The Merstham number 8 and midfield general Peter Adeniyi is comfortably the best player I have seen this season, absolutely outstanding.

Is the Pineapple not a reference to a haircut displayed by one, possibly two of our team yesterday?

To borrow a Mrs K classic, has a very short Barber opened up in Whyteleafe?

I quite like pineapple (unless some dolt tries to put it on a pizza, my Daughter for instance), but I'm with you Farmie on the Merstham deal.....kin hate them, but they played so much better than us yesterday, no two ways about it, they deserved the victory.

Best performance against us all season IMO. Felt a bit sorry for Roscoe who ran his little socks off all afternoon but was allowed no joy whatsoever.

arguments from here. Merstham have certainly built a very good side and after a dodgy start certainly look the most likely to catch Burglars Hill, if any one can.
As long as we learn from this and start to build a similar team then we should look at this as a positive.I know that sounds strange after been done over 1-5 at home, but it was a lesson and one we need to learn.
And if we can get on a run to get a playoff place, we only have to beat them once. How fun would that be, to turn them over once after they have beaten us three times.!!!!!
Meet in the Old House at Home in Dormansland before the game at Easy Grinstead.

PS thought the ref was excellent yesterday.

We all seem to agree that Merstham are a better team than us.

But why are they?

How have they attracted such good players?
Is it the budget?
Are they fitter?
Is it their shape and balance of the whole team?

I'm trying to avoid this sounding as a witch hunt after yesterday. We lost fairly and squarely but if we are going to aspire to match them then I'd be interested to hear any thoughts. I don't know the answers.

No idea myself as a Merstham fan. I'm sure we're paying good money but is it just that? Hayden has been there over 2 years now so I guess he's had time to build a team/system that works. Certainly the last 12 months have seen astonishingly good form and we're on our way to our best ever league finish. Play offs would be amazing although can't imagine us getting through them.

of rumours abound at this level of footy and its been said that Haydn brings some budget to whatever club he is managing at the time. Talking to a Merstham board member yesterday and he seems to think that Haydn's big fining system is quite key. A player can lose upto half his 'expenses' just for missing a training session.
Whatever the reasons it was clear that Merstham have certainly got it right at the mo. They seemed a big unit, and that always seems key at Rymans, but all looked really comfortable on the ball and had an understanding of where their team mates were.
Merstham fans are quite borish tho..... dont say anything for ages, then when the game is safe start taking the piss. Why not take the piss all game even if it backfires and enjoy the banter, certainly no characterss in there!!
Ive been at Moatside for a few games as a nuetral and its always the same. No atmosphere whatsoever, and only comes half alive when they are winning by a few and then its just baiting of the oppo. No songs about actually supporting a team!!

One loudmouth started singing "You're not singing anymore" but didn't have a clue what tune to sing it to!

Whilst I agree with everything that has been said lets not get too downhearted we still have 45 points to play for. onwards and upwards.

Have to agree with all that has been said. Soundly beaten by the best opposition I have seen this season, but we have got 47 points (more than anyone has ever been relegated with) 19 more than the last time we were in this league, and still with a chance of the last play off place. I don't know what everyone's expectations were for this season but I for one am very happy with our season so far. More ups than downs and seen lots of good entertaining football.

Sounds like I missed bit of a footballing lesson. Hopefully Easy Grinstead will feel the backlash next week
