Hythe on saturday

By Clive (legacy user)12/2/2015 19:11Thu Feb 12 19:11:41 2015

Hythe are 10 places below us but unbeaten in 2015.
Conceded 9 goals less than Whitstable.
Only 1 draw less(10) than the draw kings(us).
A couple of recent signings in the last few weeks.

A tougher game than many may suspect. I would take a 1-0.

Alas I will be absent again. A paucity of local games in Cornwall on Saturday means it's a 2.00 k/o in the Cornwall senior cup at Dobwalls v St Blazey for me.

Good luck to the boys and you lot sing up loudly and proudly.

Agree Clive, it will be hard fought. On the plus side, Hythe are without an away win in eight... but they did get a point at Burgess Hill. I too will take a 1-0, I would every time from here on in.

Sparks game against Worthing is off. A massive chance to gain back our 5th place. Effectively this is now our game in hand, so a game we have to take by the scruff of the neck and make a statement of intent to the rest of the chasing pack.

Lets go do it!!! COYL

Leafe 3 Hythe Town 2

A pulsating second half and at last Leafe restored a lost lead with a Jordan Bird wonder strike from wide left.

The drama continued with Leafe clearing off the line and Hythe hitting the post near the end.

Amazing game and a result to put us back in the playoffs.

It was a cross come shot. Keeper knew he was done for straight away.

Roscoe's injury is to his thumb so fingers crossed (but not thumbs).

How the heck are Hythe 17th in the table? A club to admire on and off field in my opinion.

PBFC.

He was deliberately pushed into the fence and initial thoughts are he has bruised his gluteus maximumus ( buttock in Forest Gumps language)

I am speaking with him today/tomorrow to see how it feels.

He told me it was his bum.

If you mix up bum and thumb I dread to think what sort of hitchhikers you pick up Mark.

Hee hee, I thought you said thumb.

If you had said Arse like impolite people do none of this confusion would have arisen.

Fluke? It was a 30 yard rocket into the top corner. Keeper was helpless.

I've just read their website account of the game. I'm surprised the writer thought Hythe were poor in the first half, I thought they passed the ball neatly in the main and carried a threat in the last quarter-hour of that half, they looked like they could play a bit.
As for our winner... I must admit, I thought it was a cross that flew in, but it was no more than Jordan deserved for a solid game at left-back. He likes to get forward and has a dangerous left peg on him when he does. I didn't have my beer glasses on, though ;-)
Didn't have a chat with the Hythe fans but they seemed a decent bunch.

Yes they are a decent bunch. We were well looked after down there earlier in the season and that day were undone only by a Greg Andrews wonder brace in a game where it could have gone either way .
Hythe show that you can be a decent lot and be gracious in defeat in this level of footy. They are a genuinely friendly and i like them a lot. Esp as its a wonderfully wired looking stand they have.
Good luck to them for the rest of the season.

Rather oddly they were all wearing large rather plush blue scarves, odd given that they play in red. Are you Cardiff in disguise?

Maybe they have away scarves and home scarves...

Worth mentioning that this is the first time this season that we have won three league matches on the bounce. Yes, they are all in the lower reaches of the table, but it's a good time to get on a roll and we have dropped plenty of points against similar sides. Let's hope we can make it four in a row at Hastings, via a Cup QF triumph.

Worthy of a mention too.

Kept the game flowing, kept his cards in his pocket and accepted the fact that players are emotional when full of adrenaline.

If the FA could clone him our national game would be significantly better to watch week in week out.

I cannot dispute any of the above, both teams had on and off periods, the visitors were very sociable and very pleasant all round, the ref generally good but needs to recognise a push, as a minor one can be an effective foul, and to block out Like with Rosco the player should be within playing distance of the ball, or it is a foul
