Nowadays, more and more developed countries are beginning to diversify their electric power industry through the alternative energy sources. For example, about 20% of total electricity production accounts for by renewable generating capacity already today in Germany, and it is planned to increase this figure to 30% by 2020 (Energy Storage Association). However, the main problem of such sources, in addition to the high cost, is the instability of power output as well as a mismatch between the peaks in the consumption and production of electricity itself. Then, the question arises of its most efficient accumulation.

Energy storage (accumulation) has a great increasing importance. Energy storage is an input of any kind of energy into the accumulator (storage) of energy such as the device, equipment, installation or structure. This is done in order to get back this energy for consumption in the same or modified form at a convenient time. The problem of efficient storage of energy generated from renewable energy sources is one of the most important and challenging tasks of modern energy industry. Using energy storage devices, one can increase the efficiency of use of renewable energy, increase the total power generation of a generating installation and supply an object with energy on schedule. Such user also can align graphics of production and consumption of energy in order to supply consumers in the periods when the unit is not working or has not enough power.

Usually, the so-called capacitive accumulating devices, in which the energy reserve is determined by 2-3 daily intakes, are used to implement most tasks. They are designed for use in the periods of sufficiently long recessions in energy generation. Many of the characteristics of accumulators should be taken into account when dealing with energy storage.
