Interesting - Easom seemed a nice guy

Does this mean his assistant has left the club aswell?

Up till now I have been content to be a passive follower of this forum, however, after the extraordinary events of the last 5-6 months I felt compelled to register and add my tuppence worth.
This season we have all watched helplessly from the sidelines (literally) while our club has been reduced to a laughing stock, on and off the pitch. The new owners have been proven incapable of carrying on the good work of the Boon family. The level of incompetence and naivety is truly staggering. Last season we had the makings of a team that with a few key additions would have been capable of challenging for the title, under the stewardship of a manager with a wealth of experience at this level. What do we have now? A team made up largely of youngsters with little or no senior experience at this level or above. It is no surprise to anyone therefore that we languish at the bottom of the table. The new manager, as anyone who has read his impressive cv will know, appears to be well connected and is doing his very best to get us out trouble. But, as with Christian, he is working with one hand tied behind his back. Results do not lie. Although it is only November, we are pretty much a certainty for relegation already – unless and it’s a very big unless - the owners give him a budget that will allow him to sign up- RIGHT NOW!- 3-4 senior players with experience at this level.
As most supporters will be aware, there have also been plenty of problems off the pitch, too many to mention here. Notably, we find ourselves in the farcical position of being a football club without a proper clubhouse to call our own. A situation which away supporters must scratch their heads at.
Unfortunately, there seems to be no improvement on the horizon and the club lurches from one disaster to another.
I truly hope I am proved wrong, that we stay up and the club begins to operate like a proper football club again. But I will not be holding my breath. I really do fear for the long term future of the club under the current owners. So much for their 10 year plan!

Not many people can disagree with you regarding on the field comments, but as we know that is heavily affected by what happens off the field. Although I think the below statement has expired somewhat...

"The new owners have been proven incapable of carrying on the good work of the Boon family"

The previous owner did a fantastic job of running the football club for many years, but unfortunately had to walk away which was his decision to make and not for me to pass judgement on. But what has happened this year is a result of bad ownership for several years, tied in with the fact all of the so called "club " people have walked away citing "it's not our club anymore" (Easy to find if you do a bit of social media searching) . I can't understand why all of these people have done a runner and not stuck around to help the club they "love" so much!!!!!!

I enjoy coming down to home games (And the odd close away one) buying a programme and sometimes celebrating a win ha ha . But i find it hard to believe nobody actually blames Matthew Boon for this situation... What has happened to the bar ? I think it's easy to blame the new owners but I think there's a little more to that than meets the eye!

Yes there has been things that have happened that have been out of the new owners hands and I believe Mathew has had a hand in them, namely the losing of the sports bar, and if that is so then that shows how much respect he has of what his father did for the club. I just find it all saddening, it seem as though the new owners have been set up to fail and why? All this should be about the good of"Staines Football Club", but it looks as though it is not. I would like to know what people are trying to get out of all this.

I have made many friends over my time at STFC and I cannot believe any of them have a smile on their faces following the events since the takeover. Stoically we can say ‘keep the faith’ but in reality it has never been so tough for the Swans faithful!

From an outside perspective looking in, it would appear the situation we now find ourselves in is most probably a combination of many different issues, all of which have contributed to our position at the bottom of the league and the losing of the sports bar. Everyone is quick to blame the new owners, but it is plainly obvious that the issue runs a lot deeper than this. The Boon family have been the making and also salvation of the club for over thirty years and without them we would not have this fantastic facility, awards for the best pitch in non league football, two fantastic FA cup runs to the 2nd round, also making the draw for the 3rd round proper whilst dumping 2 football league sides out along the way and also coming within touching distance of the National League. Then there’s the 2 other first round appearances against football league opposition in a breathtaking period in the clubs history.
Despite all this success, we never grew our fan base (which is another major reason as to why we have not progressed). The farm end should have been developed with a roof of some kind (despite not acquiring the land) which would have increased the atmosphere behind the goal and thus drawing more people to stand there. Wheatsheaf Park is a largely open ground and with small crowds you have to grab as much atmosphere as possible or the place can become soulless. A decent PA system would have gone a long way with speakers dotted around the ground to give the place more of a ‘Football League’ feel to it. I have always said that people want atmosphere and we have failed to deliver it and I very much blame this for our low crowds.

Matthew Boon has done his father proud for boldly taking over the reigns when the club would probably have folded and we should congratulate him for that whilst also consistently providing extremely competitive playing budgets year after year. I’m not sure what happened when passing the club over to Joe and Paul but it would appear that they had not received any help from club officials and were practically blindfolded and in at the deep end with no previous experience of running a football club. Why were they not helped? Admittedly I’m sure they will be the first to admit that mistakes have been made and big ones at that and they will be big enough to accept that and take it on the chin. I can only comment on what I can see in front of me and it would so appear that everyone is equally at fault here from those currently at the club to those who have chosen to disband. The club still remains Staines Town FC so some people need to get their backsides back down here and show some loyalty and support in the clubs hour of need or it could well become the clubs final season in our long and proud history.

As always.....COME ON YOU SWANS!!!
